Hello
When I was about to go out of contract with Orange I rang up the customer retentions department directly on 0800 0792288.
I said I'd had enough and was leaving to go join 3 or O2 as they'd treat me better as a new customer.
I spent a good half an hour on the phone with them but I managed to get myself a new handset(free upgrade) which came with 15 inclusive picture messages a month, 260 anytime mins, 500 text messages a month, 3 months free trial of video calling and 3 months free wap for £30 a month. The rep said this was the best deal she could give me at that time. I was pleased with that as before I was on 200 anytime mins and 500 texts for £30 a month.
However I must warn you I have had trouble with my bills since then i.e. they've been incorrect for the past 4 months. For example they tried to charge me a double upgrade fee for the free upgrade, charging me for picture messages and on 1 occasion my phone was barred !
So if you do manage to get sorted and stay with orange make sure they put the offer through correctly !
Good luck0 -
Yes I too have had nothing but trouble with Orange not honouring what was agreed verbally at time of upgrade. Shall switch to O2 at end of contract. One family member has already done so and the rest of us will follow. How does that seem like good business to Orange or have they made enough money in the past to just not care? Seems the consumer has few rights here. Asked OSPS about it and they said should ask for a written confirmation of details but then said you wouldn't get that BEFORE agreeing to a deal. In other words, you stuck if you do and you're stuck if you don't. Once they've got you they don't care and don't honour their agreements.0

I left orange after 7 years as a loyal customer. I saw the link offer for a Samsung e530, which after 18months works out at £4 (yes £4) for 200x network mins a month, 5 picture messages a month, free voicemail, free phone which is fully unlocked, and a free bluetooth headset, on t-mobile.
I asked orange for a like for like contract to stay with them, here was their 'offer'. Samsung e530 = £130, 18 months on anytime 200 18m x £30 = £540. Plus the exact same headset = £30. So for the same deal orange wanted £700 over the term of the contract.
T-mobile wanted £4. I don’t think i need to tell you who i have my contact with now!
btw, t-mobile had under charged by £4 this month, lovely!
Leave orange and go elsewhere if they match another offer, and take your mobile number with you, like i have.0 -
I just keep a PAYG for incoming calls now. So this is the number i always give to people. On Orange PAYG. so it only cost me 20p a yr to run. As you have to send at least 1 text message or make 1 chargable call every 6 months.
But then i do get 5 free text messages every day with this sim.
My contract that i use for calling people with i change every year. As like so many people now realise that new customers always get a better deal.
I've just changed from orange & gone to O2 through the carphone warehouse. Where i now get a free nokia 6230i & a yrs line rental with 200 ATAN mins a month for £70.00. Although it's £30.00 a month, the cash back will mean i've only spent a total of £70.00 at the end of the 12 months.

I was relieved since I knew Santa wouldn’t lie to me ...0 -
I am on the old Cellnet Paid Up Front For Life with that handset.digp wrote:ah: now that is interesting. which tariff are you on: online? have you got a link to that tariff plan on the net?
I also have a newish account with O2 obtained through Mobileshop. This is the 200mins/100texts cashback deal. I'll try a call to an 0871 number with that one and report back. It might take a few days as it takes a little time for the on-line web page to catch up.

I was on a training course recently with a management consultancy who talked about thier previous work with an unnamed mobile phone company who rated customers by the amount of money they were making/were likely to make for the phone company over the customer's lifetime. They work hard to retain the 'gold' customers and the customers who are effectively losing the phone company money are actively ignored and discouraged from staying with the company(this is deemed better than actually breaking a contract) by the phone company. Also, if you don't fall into the categories of customer that the business is aiming at(eg SMS freak, occasional user, emergency user, social nut etc) then they aren't likely to persue your custom though at least they won't discourage it!
I kinda thought it made sense as in the past i've had some really excellent upgrade offers etc from my phone company whilst my peers will have been offered nothing and have ended up changing service providers - although the consultant could have been making it up!
Course, it may have nothing to do with management and may simply come down to your operator's mood that day!0 -
MoJo wrote:I went through this with Orange, and I've been with them for years - trouble is their coverage is the best for where I am. They eventually did me a deal, but only if I signed up as a new customer - nutters! Creating work for themselves.
It's not more work, it's for the city people/investors...companies are under great pressure to show they are signing new people up thus incresing their customer base therefore making it look as if they are increasing market share.0 -
I have been with orange for more than five years but like so many others could no longer get a competitive deal come renewal time. I couldn't cope with the hassle of cashback that so many sites are offering as I move around so much. Eventually arrived at Vodafones own website, was encouraged by what I saw so phoned them. Hearing that I was contemplating leaving Orange they really pulled out all the stops to encourage me. The result - 200 anytime x-net mins, stop the clock, 250 texts and new phone (okay, not top of the range) all for HOW MUCH ?.. £10/ month ! The deals really are still out there - this was last week.0
