Does the plus account save you the monthly fee by using its features, mil?

I used car breakdown last week but I do have a separate policy anyway! I do go abroad several times a year so this will save about £70 per year so all in all I think it's 'reasonable' but if it was free i'd take it

  • Milford:

I applied for the 2nd account on the phone
The credit card on the phone
    The loan online

Cheers, I just hate speaking to people for them to say..... SORRY.... blah blah blah (too proud maybe).

If anything i'll just email my branch and ask her to open a credit card for me in April time - thanks for advice.... i'll just have to wait

Maybe SS can clarify if the branch can and do override decisions if they know or can vouch for an account/person? Also, do you know if they'd consider taking cheque book and using the £2500 credit available as a credit card if you asked them in branch? Cheers:T

  • Mil, you on the Electoral Roll?

Yea but even that's dodgy cos i'm only showing for the last year but lived here 2.6 so still have to use previous address which has no record of me cos I didn't register as I didn't wanna pay council tax lol - only lived there for like a year!

Regards to overdraft, yea I know it's funny isn't it - I thought to get Plus you had to score quite high so why do they give bigger o/d on Advance Account? To be fair I done it, cancelled it and re-done it online cos I was testing system (tried for a grand but knocked back)

dont use my o/d's never so don't know why I have them to be honest, moreso to give the bank proof i'm worth the risk I suppose but that will take time. I guess is doesn't harm having £1k in each saving account....

  • Do you think you got credit searched each time you applied for the OD?
  • Hi Mil
Opened the account around 28th August. I told them I wanted a darn credit card but they said no point applying as computer would have automatically offered it were I eligible. Then around 10th Nov I thought eff this I want a credit card. So I applied. I also needed a small unsecured loan at that time. So on 10th Nov i applied for a second current account, a small unsecured loan (£2.5k) an a credit card. The 2nd current acc was opened with no fuss at all and came with an OD limit of I think £500. The CC application got 'referred' to underwriting. The loan applic was also referred. First thing the next morning (like 8.30 am lol) my phones are ringing off the hook. It's Underwriting at HSBC. They asked me a few questions about my income. Then they went away for about 90 seconds and said "your loan is approved." I then said, "oh actually I put in a credit card application yesterday too". The Underwriter said "Oh that was already approved earlier this morning. Your limit is £3000 and your APR is 16.9"

A couple of weeks ago I thought I fancied a higher limit on the credit card. I rang them up and asked them what they could offer me. They told me they'd have to do a full credit search. the woman went away and did the search and came back and said we can give you an extra £1000 on your credit limit.

Well it doesn't bother me to be honest, its like £130 per year..... to be honest i'd have willingly paid that just to get a full bank account that's why I originally applied for it thinking that if I paid they'd probably give me it - LOL.

To be honest I waste a lot of money so pointless trying to get me with the saving element cos I just don't care! For example, when they came and changed my tyre last week, I not only paid for that one to get replaced I got all 4 done cos they have to match! The garage said that was stoopid cos they were £135 each but only needed one.

That's what i'm like - sorry, so the savings element really doesn't bother me.

  • Mil, I take it you don't have much in the way of savings then?
