I really liked Perth and I can see why many Brits settled there as it does have a kind of sort of English feel to it. One thing I heard several times though was how far it felt from everywhere-even the other big cities-not a bad thing but different to the UK where other cities and Europe is a hop. Did seem to bother some quite a bit-others not at all.
I'd go for a decent length holiday if you can and do normal stuff rather than holiday stuff to get a feel for it -your gut will tell you if it's right for you (I came close myself ). It seemed a fab place to live so defernitely worth considering.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I may be slightly biased, but I reckon if it feels right for you guys, do it! Perth particularly is just beautiful. It's a lovely, clean city. Some really nice sights around the city, and down south. I grew up in Perth and my family still live there. I'd move back to Perth in a heartbeat. One thing you need to be aware of if you do move is the stinking hot summers! I'm talking 43+ degrees, and oh the humidity!
Hey I'm from Perth too! Where did you grow up? ... never felt the humidity in Perth tho... lived in Darwin and QLD - now that's awful humidity :eek:0 -
Hi - Will do - actually I think I have to introduce you - do you mind sending me your e-mail address via PM? Fine if you don't - no worries!

If you are an aussie and living in the UK - you can buy delicious TimTams in Tesco and Sainsburys:D :j
Wish I was in Oz right now - it is too cold here and I have been fed up of the snow. Pity, I am too old to emigrate:rolleyes:0 -

I grew up in Thornlie, south of the Swan River. My parents still live there and I'm going home to visit in a couple of weeks
llamahead, I'm sorry, I already signed up for the surveys sites, well My Opinions, The Rewards one has an error everytime I try to verify my email.
As a side note, I'm quite addicted to the survey site. I did all the quick questions [for 3 points each] and I did the weekly chance click thingy and get 20 points! :j
I still haven't worked up the courage to start a spending diary though :shocked:Away with the speed of a thousand turtles!0 -
No problem, I find the points really add up from rewards central and my opinions, got 15 today! I only got 5 on the instant win, the best I have ever got is 50 - still looking for the elusive 500!
See you have made a start on the debts - well done!

I had a sit down and even cracked out the calculator last night. My stupid mobile phone that I love stopped receiving text messages again and I'm on a data plan! The fact that I'm on a data plan means that the cost of calls is HUGE. While the plan is $60 per month, I always go over that because I make calls. This month my bill was $140  Add to that the fact that when I walked out of the phone shop today after going in to get the text messaging thing fixed, my phone didn't work at ALL... I came to the conclusion that it was time to get out of the contract.
It's going to be nearly $300 to pay out my contract, but I have 7 months left of it, and if the bill is going to be in the hundreds each month, the sensible choice was to get rid of it. I went and bought a cheapie prepaid phone. The thing with me is that I lack discipline. If the money is there, I may very well spend it. If the phone is there, I will likely use it. At least with prepaid I'll weight up whether or not I need to make the call. Just like if I lock my money away in savings or pay it off straight away I have no problem getting through the week, but if the money is accessible, it's gone. I have no idea how my brain works
The clicks/survey thing is a little slow... I don't seem to be what people are looking for clearly! I did do one survey about skin cancer though. I'm also trying to borrow a digital camera so I can put some stuff on ebay.
I feel a little like I'm pedalling backwards with the debts this week though, I'm flying over to Perth on Saturday and my money just seems to have gone nowhere.
PAD is a bit harder, I discovered my CC has a minimum of $5 payment :rotfl: If I have less than $5 to siphon off I'm putting it onto my loan. Would have liked to keep it all going to one place though.
We had an "eat out of the cupboard/freezer" night last night. It was our first and I suspect it will be our last. OH had a questionable concoction of sausages wrapped in tortilla bread, with cheese, bacon bits and pizza sauce. It smelt foul and looked worse :lipsrseal I was sensible and had porridgeAway with the speed of a thousand turtles!0 -
