Prize not received from Good to Know **Updated**

Good evening all and Happy Valentines Day for tomorrow :)

I am just wondering if anyone has any problems with the PR companies that Good to Know deal with for sending out prizes? I won the wii and boogie superstar game which Elver Man so kindly posted from Good to Know and was told it would be with me within 28 days, but by 28 days it still wasn't here so I have sent 2 emails to the PR company, who have failed to reply. I don't know what steps to take next though.

I wouldn't be too bothered but its a wii and I promised my little brothers that if I ever won a wii it was theirs, so I am gutted that it hasn't turned up.....

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance x

    Hi, cheznal
Yep, I am still waiting on prizes from their sister mag...Pick Me Up. I was gonna wait till tommorrow if they don't arrive will be emailing them. I never recieved a prize from last year neither before I started comping on here, (even though I emailed a few times) so I will be complaining about that too. Been waiting for one since before xmas, & one 8 wks ago. I know they usually say 28 days but I thought I would wait a bit longer. They also ask to email promoter first, maybe try again cheznal?

Thanks Wingobins, I have sent an email to the lady who sent me the wem explaining that I had sent them 2 emails and had no reply to see if she can help. I have got an out of office reply stating she will return to work on 16th Feb, so hopefully, fingers crossed I will hear something soon. Thanks again hun x

I must admit that most of the pr companies post them within the 28 day deadline but i know that christmas has caused a few delays. I myself am waiting for a couple of prizes.

You need to e mail the PR company and CC the ever helpfull Emma (thats who its usualy advises of the wins). In the past just a reply from her has prompted the prizes to arrive.

Quite a few times my prizes havn't turned up from goodtoknow within the 28days but emailing the pr company and copying the email to the lady who sent the wem (as elver man says) has always worked for me as they look into it and prizes will then turn up a week or two later.

    Good luck. :D
  • I won some burn cream from pick me up which took about two & half months to arrive (unfortunatley I scolded my fingers 2 days before!!!) but hopefully the same thing has happened to your prizes and they've been delayed. Hope you get them soon :o
Thanks to everyone who posts the comps :A

See if you can get a phone number as well. It's always worth chasing them up, although never expect prizes to arrive too soon after the 28 days.

I am still convinced that was the only reason I got my Wii from the london paper - they had to got out to the shops to buy one for me!!

I won a CD from good to know a while back and it didn't arrive. I emailed the lady who sent the WEM and she apologised and soon after I received about 10 CDs (not the one I'd entered the comp for though!) as an apology. So it's definitely worth chasing up even small prizes!

    From Velvet Glove's Comping Guide

7 What happens if my prize doesn’t turn up?
This is going to be individual to each comp. Usually it will state in the T & C for each comp how long it should take for the prizes to be dispatched to winners. As a general rule though or in the absence of any particular details in the T & C, allow 28 days, (allow more if we are experiencing postal strikes or extreme weather conditions). If the prize hasn't arrived by then, get in touch with the company offering the prize. Try to contact the person whose details you have & ask politely if there is a problem with delivery. A telephone call is the best way, but failing that try emailing them. If they don't reply, look on the original website for contact details & contact them, again being as polite as you can.

If you still get no response from them, there are a few different things you can try.

The Institute of Sales Promotions complaints@isp.org.uk lay down the guidelines which comp organisors must follow. MSE Compers have reported that they are very good at investigating dodgy comps & missing prizes with one chap in particular Edwin Mutton, being an absolute star.

The Advertising Standards Authority have an online complaints form.

I had an issue with a prize not turning up & after chasing politely for 5 months, I mentioned that I had been advised to talk to the Institute of Sales Promotions about the matter. Funnily enough that resulted in a letter of apology within a few days, along with a box of ‘Apology Goodies’ & my prize turned up 2 weeks later. Just remember to keep your cool & remain polite.
