(I assumed that the £200 was per term or per year.)
Well they are after they pay their rent it seems!0 -
UNITE are an utter rip off, is there no other uni accommodation or uni partnership accommodation, or perhaps private landlords registered with them? can't believe how many people pay out for unite type halls.
i pay £68 p/w bills inclusive  and i think that is expensive!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
That discount is most likely fake.
"while there is a 10% discount, as room prices are going up next year. "
They did the same thing to me. Then i found out all the new tenants are paying less than I am.
They say this to con the people already living there into rebooking.0 -
To be honest, £68 a week is not expensive.
I've tried moving out and we have actually worked out of the cost of a real move out into the real world would cost me about £200 for everything. most places where i live, for a one bedroom flat is £120 a month. thats for a cheap standard thing. the cheapest i seen round here is £80 for a one room thing like everything in a small studio flat. I live on the Isle of Wight, but those are Portsmouth prices.
Also, I have been in contact with Unite and everytime we have called its a near instant answer and they are usually really helpful.
In addition to this, some people can't just go home. I will be studying in huddersfield, which is near enough 250 - 300 miles from where i am living now in the south. If i cant afford to home I will have to stay in halls, so I think them offering you a place to sleep for £40 a week [half price accom over the summer] is an excellent idea.
At the end of the day u chose to move out. If u live close to ur chosen anyways you might as well just stay at home and leave the student accom to someone who actually needs it and wont complain.0 -
My advice is for any student looking for external property is to get the cheapest & most convenient property. I paid £45 per week for my room with 3 others and we walked to uni in less than 10 mins!0

The price of all student accommodation varies greatly around the country with London obviously being very expensive. However Unite seem to me to be London prices putside of London, and in London they are astronomical. I would never go with them, and am lucky they dont own anytihng in my uni town.
I go to uni in a small town where there is a bit of a shortage of accommodation for students, with halls only accepting 1st years and international students (Whereas just a few years ago they'd hours most 3rd and some 2nd year students too), then in the town a limit on the number of propeties.
However even then most people pay £60-70 + bills for houses per person.0
