No "friendly advice" required, Reestit - indeed, bearing in mind the history of this, (see HERE), I wonder what your motive is raising this again!
Unfortunately, our "history" does not make you immune from accepting advice in the manner in which it was intended. The e2save rewards for referrals are always variable. The £40 deals usually coincide with them removing the extra special deals which are of interest to money savers. It would be impractical to post every time they change their deals - the mainstay is the £20 deal, but anyone contacting me to use my link knows that all money that I get is passed on.
That is EXACTLY why I previously suggested a much more forum friendly and low-maintenance method of advertising your offer in one place and simply referring to it in a non-specific way. That's what everyone else does. It's far easier to maintain a single source post as and when the situation changes.
Infact, here's an idea...you could make it your signature line and then just changing your signature changes the signature line on ALL previous posts as well - all with one fell swoop. Simply note the date of the last edit in the text every time you change it.
It's just a shame you chose to ignore my advice then as now you have a lot of (unintentionally) misleading adverts for your scheme flying around the boards which you now refuse to address individually. I fail to see why you are so resolute in your intention to refuse to see the simplicity of what I have suggested.
To be perfectly frank about this, against my well-meaning advice you were willing to put an inordinate amount of effort into carpet-bombing the site with your scheme (well meaning though it is) so it's a bit pathetic to now claim it's too much to expect you to follow up on your posts and bring them up to date.My scheme passes all money received back to the MSE member who buys the phone (75%) and MSE charities (25%), and as I have always pointed out - nothing for me!
The point is, Smartasss, the vast majority of your previous posts only mention £15, £5 and "nothing for me" so it is perfectly understandable for there to be a question mark hanging over the remaining £20 now that E2Save have increased their payments. Your use of percentages above (for the first time) now answers that query and you would do well to amend all your other recent posts on this subject accordingly.
That's all I'm asking you to do for the sake of clarity on these boards - surely you can understand that and do it for the members of these forums rather than for me?Why do you continually cast aspersions?
I most certainly did NOT cast aspertions in this instance.
This is simply a stock accusation which, without fail, you wheel out to try and deflect the focus when you can't be bothered to address the issue at hand. It's getting rather worn and tired now, Smartasss...and it serves absolutely no purpose other than to increase the chances of stoking an argument that the members of these forums need like a hole in the head. Well, I'm not going to rise to this bait, I'm afraid.I wonder what your motive is raising this again!
Then again...if this ISN'T an attempt to cast aspertions yourself...
Hypocrisy is an ugly thing, Smartasss.
I simply gave you some (friendly) advice and asked you kindly to tidy up after yourself as you pointedly refused to stop unnecessarily creating the mess when asked nicely a while ago. What's more, I chose to refer you to my post and give you the benefit of the doubt in believing that you may not yet have read the OP on this subject. It would be nice if you could reciprocate and, just for once, offer me the same benefit of the doubt in your response. Maybe then there would be far less running battles.
FWIW, I don't believe that we have to avoid each other to get along as that doesn't really solve the problem (assuming there is one), it just sweeps it under the carpet. What say you and I have a virtual chat over a pint of beer to try and resolve any differences that we may still have?
I look forward to receiving a PM from you to kick this off - I'm sure the people on this board would agree that we should take this discussion private from here-on in...

Why don't YOU just admit this "advice" you give is a way to get back at Smartasss for informing people of a way to buy a phone from e2save (and help charity) without lining YOUR pockets with the commission!!!!!!!!!!0 -

Because it's not. Full stop. As it is, I regularly endorse another member's charity/cashback scheme (as it's the most transparent such scheme currently offered on MSE) and I recommend using MARTIN's links if you prefer to go via a cashback site. If I was simply chasing commissions, as you suggest, I wouldn't be doing that voluntarily.
Just because of my background, I should not be precluded from having a valid point to make. That would just be discrimination. Just because I have the ability to earn money from E2Save does not mean that everything I say is purely financially driven. The sooner people like Smartasss accept that, the better.
As it is, there will always be people who will use my affiliation with E2Save and certain other retailers to justify casting aspertions simply because my status makes me a safe target (not many people will publicly stick their neck out and defend an affiliate in an argument unless they know there is widespread support for that person). In some ways it's no different to the way buillies operate at school (pick on the weak kids that have few friends). However, that's a cross that I will simply have to bear.

Neither my son (who has just embarked on a teachers training 3yr course) or myself is peading poverty, but when we see advertisements ie Carphonewarehuse for example for the Nokia 7600 with a monthly rental of £4.99, we believe that to be exactly what it says.
So when we call them with view to making a purchase, they say have you read the Terms & Conditions? and we always so "no". It seems that within the T&C is the information about cash-back at intervals during the year.
My argument is this. If companies are quite happy to make statements using large typeface to attract your attention, then why do they resort to small typeface hidden within another window to really present the facts. To me, that seems a trifle deceatfull. I bet I'm not alone in thinking this way.
OK, so there are deals around at £15 per month, PAYG and contract, but my son intends to be MONEYSAVING and know that his expenses for having the use of a mobile for emergency use, is £5 and not much more. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I agree - I don't like the incorrecty worded adverts
implying low cost monthly rental- used by many dealers
Prior to take over by CPW , E2Save used to just call it a straight cashbackAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

I tend to agree with you Island Man.
What makes matters worse is that different retailers choose to advertise their cashback deals dfifferently and many of them also vary their headline description from deal to deal.
I'm all for actually calling an apple an apple. i.e. they really should separate the network enticement from their cashback and simply state "X amount line rental with X months 1/2 price + X amount cashback" as, in the case of the 3 deal, that is what it really is. They should also state, in smaller print (but on the main page) cashback by redemption, claimable in X parts after month Y & month Z.
Unfortunately, they don't do this.
In deference to the strict interpretation of MSE rules, I have now removed a paragraph of text that mentioned my website. Besides, the basic thrust of this post is still perfectly valid, topical and useful without this paragraph of text.
A "classic" example of such retailer obfuscation appeared on the CPW website a couple of days ago...on the front page of the site it says £2.99/month for a T610 on BT mobile. However, on the main page for the promotion it states £2.99 for the first 6 months, then £9.99 per month for 6 months - then on the Terms & Conditions page it gives details of the network line rental reduction for 6 months and cashbacks at month 6 & 12.
Of course, people will be drawn to the CPW deal by the headline figure of £2.99/month but, in reality, the E2Save deal of £4.99/month for 12 months (also via a 6 months reduction offered by the network followed by 2 cashback payments) is STILL cheaper by about £20.
Ditto for the LG8120 deals offered everywhere at the moment with a headline banner of £4.49/month - in reality this is only for the first 9 months via a 3 months network discount and 2 cashback claims. After this, it's £30/month. If you go to Phones4U, they still have it on offer with 1/2 price line rental for 12 months + £50 cashback (again, the structure of the deal is different to that advertised in the headline) which is some £30 cheaper overall.
To be perfectly honest, I've been meaning to write a few articles for my site explaining the pitfalls of these deals and how to look past the advertising bluff - maybe now would be a good time (if only I wasn't so snowed under with other more important matters at the moment)
Oh well...one day...
All the best
Merry Christmas one and all (you too, Smartasss),

** Sorry Reestit, no direct vested interest links from this board. Edited by Abuse Controller **
It's a shame you see it like that - Given the terseness of the above message I feel I have to explain myself for those who may otherwise believe that the link was intended to be self-serving.
ALL listings on the page linked to have a well-signposted non-affiliate link attached to them as well as a clearly marked affiliate link and I simply can't explain the concept without an example anyway (the formatting options on these forums is very poor compared with full-blown HTML so it's simply not achieveable on this site anyway otherwise I would have replicated it here - minus any affiliate links).
Besides...it's not like I link directly to my site outside of the referrers board very often. It's a very rare occurrence and usually only with a very good (i.e. non profit-driven) reason.
Hope this clarifies the issue.
