  • This recipe usually uses normal coke - its the sugar that makes the syrupy sticky sauce. I dont think that diet coke will thicken up on its own. Maybe if you take a bit of the sauce out in a cup and add some cornflour and stir to a paste. Then put this back in the sauce might thicken up a bit.

thats a new one on me lol i have no idea what it is but if its supposed to be sweet and sticky try extra sugar and more heat perhaps.

  • drain off the coke sauce and boil it hard and fast in a seperate pot to reduce it down. This should thicken it up. Just make sure your chicken is cooked through

    Hope this helps

P.S Also works well with 7-up/diet lemonade, orange fanta etc

  • Hi

Im trying to lose weight, and am a member of slimming world, talk this week turned to Diet coke chicken.

Today i thought i would give it a go, got to tell you it was lovely!! yes really! :rotfl:

So i thought i would come and share the recipe here.

Diet coke 330ml can. ( i used tescos cheapo coke)
    6 tbsp Passata.
    left over chicken.
    chopped onion.
    Dash of worchester sauce.

Brown your chicken and soften the onions in a wok / deep frying pan.
mix the coke, passata, and worchester sauce together and add to the frying pan. bring to the boil, and then leave to simmer, be patient and leave the sauce to reduce right down.
can be served with whatever you fancy, i had mine with a simple salad and a pitta bread.

If you use youtube, you can see the recipe being made, and the end result. Not my vid, but thats what i did.

End result was a slighty sweet BBQ style sauce. You can also make it with Tango, for more of a sweet n sour taste, but i dont like sweet n sour sauce, so not tried that one.

Could well be made with flat coke? i dont see why not.
