Thanks to everyone who's posted on this thread, but especially MBE - I've had a hilarious 15 minutes reading it!
Was just going to say that instead of stock you could use made-up (I don't mean very happy) gravy granules, but not too much as they are quite salty. You could mix up about half a pint of thin gravy then make up the rest of your liquid with flour diluted with water.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

MBE, I have a cookery book for students somewhere. In it there is a list of "basic" equipment that would be useful in a kitchen. I shall post this up for you later with explainations of what each item is for. Would that be of any help to you???

Just my opinion but I think that Knorr stock cubes are much nicer than Oxo.0
