But politically speaking, it's much easier to attack the savers and prudent folks to fund these types.
If you are sitting comfortably, well then, you can afford to give a little to someone who is struggling.
Come together everybody and help your fellow man !
Savers suffering and complaining are obviously just selfish.
When did it all change for the worse? When did we deicde to abandon the idea of self reliance and responsibility for your own actions?

When the baby boomers grew up and got political, they lashed out against the standards of their parents who had fought and suffered in the war. How could the boomers compete?
SO they turned the back on ideas of independance for individuals, communities and countries. Instead they bought into socialist ideals of destroying national/community identity, and making everyone dependant on the state.
Gordon Brown continues in the same vane with tax credits, pension credits, the idea, in the end everyone will become dependant0 -

Both of you are abusive - you are the exact reason why I'm glad there is a recession (or Depression to keep doooooonut happy). I want people like you to realise that you are just like all the people you look down upon. I bet your both upto your necks in debt pretending to be wealthy. lol
Why not try to get your point across in a constructive manner? People may not agree with everything you say for a multitide of reasons but whole idea of a forum is to open up minds to a different view.0 -

I personally don't owe anyone a penny (there may be an unpaid bill waiting to be paid) but that's about it. Sold house last Oct, banked money now waiting for the right one to come up. We will be paying cash for it. Never had a credit card in my life. No loans overdrafts or w h y. Just hard cash in the bank. I drive a 96 VW Golf and a X reg VW van and never pretend to be wealthy as you say. And I do not look down on anyone unless they are shorter than me.
Having cleared that up I still think you are talking !!!!!! regarding the recession.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
I'm not revelling - read the post. I'll be in trouble as well which is why I have referred to the Big Issue. I'm just not boring and so concerned about looking good and wealthy as you oviously are. Get a better job if you can't handle it
Good looking yes! Wealthy wouldn't you like to know! You said you are glad there is a recession so that means you are glad people are losing their jobs through no fault of their own and that you are happy to see people on the streets.
It does not make me feel good when people are phoning me on a daily basis looking for work. People that have young children and have no income. I have family that work for us at the moment - it is not going to be good for them when we have no work. People are desperate all around us and when I hear people like you saying that you are glad there is a recession - sorry I live in the real world where real lives are being destroyed. It is affecting people's health as companies we know are down sizing and being ruthless to staff to get them to leave. Excuse me if I get angry at someone ignorant like you but i am seeing it first hand as the recession affects friends and members of my family.
I wonder if you will still be glad there is a recession when it affects you!0 -
hahaha I've seen 153 people already today!!! Now come home to a couple of dogs, a friends and my sister.
You can try and stamp on me - I've dealt with more people like you. Clearly stereotypical
EDIT: What comes round goes round? So, does that mean the people who lose their homes deserve it because of something they did in their past? That's meaner than what I said. Shame on you.
What comes round goes round - is directed at you! People like you are so smug and think it is not going to affect you. Lets wait and see!:rotfl:0 -

The recession is an inevitable consequence of the artificial boom/bubble we've had for the last ten years.
It's like withdrawal from a drug. It isn't nice, but it's part of the body's healing and recovery process, so in that sense I'm glad to see it.
In this case the country has to recover from addiction to debt and living beyond its means.
Obviously it's painful but if we did not have this recession and continued as we had been for the last ten years, binging on debt and imaginary wealth, the consequences would have been much worse.
It's still by no means certain that anything will be learned from this bust, but I hope we will eventually have a more realistic view of our economy.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -

What utter nonsense. It was the War generation who elected Attlee, and the baby boomers who elected Thatcher.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -

Maybe I've had so much trouble in my life I think this is nothing, and therefore funny. Being skint is nothing compared to what some people have been through. Go bury your head in the sand
am I the only one who keeps getting a mental picture of domcastro that closely resembles Rwick from the Young Ones.
I started Poly in 1990 and came across a huge number of "smelly students" selling 'Socialist Worker' outside the Arndale centre in Headingley every day. They all took great pleasure in telling me how the recession was the result of Thatcher's greed and punishment for those who would be brought to book for their crimes against the 'poor' in the coming revolution.
Unfortunately telling them I grew up in Southern Africa and that I had seen real poverty and oppression would just work them up into an odd frenzy that would culminate in accusations against my parents ranging from being filthy rich to modern day slave traders. I still think that one from drama club was hugely attracted to me as she just could not leave it alone.

God I'm good.
Wanted to reaquaint myself with some Student Grant gems and came across the Wiki (which I hadn't read until now)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student_GrantAlthough Grant likes to think of himself as in touch with the working classes, he is actually from a solid middle class background. He also clearly has a lot of latent contempt for the working classes and non-students in general, regarding them as ill-educated peasants. Because he has a habit of making his opinions loud and clear, this has resulted in a number of savage beatings for Grant on the occasions he strayed off campus and into the real world.
I'm off to try and find some online strips to read - God I used to love Viz - I may have to buy another issue one day.I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)You should note that this site doesn't check my status as an IFA, so you need to take my word for it.
