Only confusion of technology is on Skys part. They dont know how to build a reliable box!
I wouldn't agree with that, I believe that they do have the technology to have built and buy in reliable receivers, they just will not pay the price, they are all made down to a price, hence the ever growing reliability problems that we witness.
Still the same end result.0 -
Dont count your chickens before they hatch Bob, you must have the one that got away but on reflection I would agree with the statement that Sky wont pay the price for a reliable box. Thats why they hound you constantly with phone calls trying to take out Sky Protect-A breakdown cover for their unreliable boxes.
SCAM!!!!!!!!
So they supply you with dodgy new and refurbed boxes then try and get you to pay for them again. Brilliant!!!
Who makes money out of that? mmmm.......SKY!
Why is it out of all my electrical AV equipment the only one to have broken down is Skys?
Not bad luck or coincidence.
Its bad build quality and total lack of reliability.0 -
Re the breakdown cover after 1 year..has anyone thrown the "SOG" act at them?0

The Sale of goods at says goods must be of sufficient quality. Where is' used with reference to a guarantee is would you expect it to break after a set time. For a sky box a year is not a long time for it to work so it should be expected to last longer than a year. It's often muttered that TV's have a six year warranty under this.
However it's rubbish, usually the six year part comes form the statue of limitation which says you have six years to persue a claim. The SOG act does not define what that quality is and it would be unreasonable to expect a £50 TV to last as long as a £1000 TV, but again that distinction is not stated in the act and vague.
You get the Makers year Warranty and that it.. Want more then you need to pay for the extra cover either by an extended warranty, or or self insure and cover the repair costs.0
