the SA was rude and unpleasant, and I'm pretty sure that that sort of behaviour isn't in her job description. She could easily have referred her query to the manager without creating such a palaver. The manager obviously had no real problem with what you wanted to do, so I can't see why this SA needed to behave like this towards you.
It's my belief that if you're in any job where you're dealing with the public, no matter what rubbish, stupidity or lies they come out with you should always treat them with courtesy and politeness.

Your personal feelings re a customer are irrelevant in customer service and indeed business as a whole. Do the CEOs of two multi-nationals let their personal feelings dominate during a business meeting? No they don't. You can truly hate someone personally, but still do business with the company they belong to.

Anyone ever despised their boss personally? Do you tell your boss, or bury it and just deal with them on a professional basis?

I think it's the same with Customer Service - whatever you feel about a customer, when dealing with them you're an ambassador for your entire company and should behave as such. If you feel you're unable to do that, you should either request a Customer Services refresher course, or find a job where you won't have to deal with the public anymore.

Should say, IMO the overwhelming majority of Boots SAs are very helpful and polite. As with anything, it's the few bad ones that let down the rest.

i really have to agree, when i used to be a maccies manager you really have to cope with all teh anger and frustrations of everyone who comes throuigh teh door and you often got shouted at or food thrown at your or swore at for summin youd never done. even when i was telling those throwers/swears that i could no longer help them i was polite in doing so.

None in Cribbs, Emmersons Green, Eastgate or Avonmeads - not tried Broadmead yet, if they are anywhere in bristol would have thought they would be there! Too much of a pain for me to park at the mo!

There's a Boots in Clifton, havent tried there though.
