Better still, uninstall it and install Avira AntiVir or Avast.

The reason for the error message is that you need to install AVG in administrator mode.

Right click and choose the option Run as Administrator.

It has been running ok till this week

I'm finding AVG updates very inconsistent - minute to minute differences.

And as for the amount of stuff it's missing on a badly infected pc...
AVG picked up 21
Combofix picked up about 60
Malwarebytes picked up about 30.

If your pc is badly infected, AVG alone is not going to fix it.

Don't seem to be able to uninstal AVG I'm getting the following message.

I run Malryware and it has nothing

Yes I have also tried all programmes AVG uninstall
