Yeah, I'd be doing this too.
It'll probably get things resolved quicker and will make you feel like you've had your pound of flesh, but without the hassle of going to court.0 -
What about trying the theft angle again?
Go back to the police and say your car has been nicked and you have documentary evidence of who stole it.
Wonder how they would react?0 -
It's a classic Council screw up and for that reason you will get off this and get an apology. Whichever officer decided your car was junk to be cleared up would struggle to defend their actions in court, especially as you've been quoted two acts.Yes, this has confussed me. The council and recovery company state one act and the police state another. Looks like i need to read up on this other act now.
The Council's solicitors would go nuts! A car temporarily parked over a weekend with tax and MOT does not an abandoned car make? It's obvious that the council officer gave too much weight to the boarded up window.Prof planning and public rights of way person. Studies all things tech!0 -

The "boarded up" window is quite a crucial turn of phrase, too...The bit of the act OP quoted referred to "broken windows" - there's a substantial difference in my mind between a broken window and a boarded up one

Am i wrong in thinking that an abandoned car was supposed to have a 7 day notice of removal on it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

If you don't need a permit to park there, and the public have free access to it, how would they know that a car parked there wasn't abandoned by a non-resident??
Do you honestly think the council has been periodically checking the car park and writing down everyones mileage reading?
Its not rocket science for them to check who owns a vehicle0 -
Ah, so this is how Northants Police are going to make up the shortfall in cash following their announcement that they are bining mobile camera's.It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0
