item sent 1st class not recorded as paid for

What would you ask for?

I paid £6.50 for two suits to be sent recorded delivery- as per the ebay auction.

However, they have sent them normal first class post (when I asked for a tracking number as they haven't arrived yet, I also know they would be a speedy poster if they had arrived but I am always hopefull).

I felt £6.50 was a lot of money for the postage, however with it being recorded delivery it was worth it to know they arrived safe (I've had a couple of things disappear recently).

Would you ask for a refund of the postage? or would you ask for a refund of the difference between the actual cost and the £6.50?

I'm really quite annoyed

  • What was the cost of first class postage paid by the seller? Recorded delivery would be 72p extra.

How much postage was on it? If the postage was around £6.50 anyway then it isn't worth the hassle.

  • Very silly of them as just say for instance that these suits 'didn't arrive'.... they have no proof of delivery when you have in fact paid for this service & would probably lose a Paypoo dispute.... ;)

I hope that you are not advocating the scamming of the seller

Ask for the 72p back - you paid for it and didn't get it.

If you're happy with the suits leave positive feedback and move on.

There's no point worrying about 72p.

It may well have been an innocent mistake - I often have other people post for me when I'm working & it's easy for minor mistakes to be made. Tell them politely that you were surprised to find the package was sent via standard post but you are happy with the items [if you are] and leave it at that, I would imagine they'd refund you the 72p.

We still don't know from the OP how much postage was on the parcel, it may actually have cost £6.50...maybe more...even without Recorded Delivery.

The OP has the suits, so does it really matter? Recorded Delivery is only of any real benefit to the seller, not the buyer.

First class postage for 2kg is 6.40, wouldn't imagine it to weigh more than that?

Just re-read OPs question - it's absolute lunacy to ask for the whole of the postage cost to be refunded, and reflective of why many people hate selling on eBay now...
