I know Acer seems to have a bad name but I have an Acer, had it for 3 years and never had a single problem with it. It runs faster than most of my friends newer and more powerfull machines and I use it everyday!

    just my twopence worth.

  • Hello from me!!! This is my first post.

I've always find this site useful:

    compare-cheap-laptops.co.uk

Selection is pretty limited but makes it a bit easier.

To save on software, you could get Openoffice rather than Microsoft office. It does exactly the same thing and is compatible with MS office but its free - https://www.openoffice.org

try the Apple Refurb Store or your sons Apple HE discount, it gets you off 17% and three years appple care for £49 which is world wide care!!!!!

Yes Apple MacBooks are more expensive but they last longer, run faster and are far superior to any other Laptop you can get!!!!
