From what I understand via other users of MSE who have had the Dyson service they overhaul the whole thing and leave you with an almost new machine

I don't have a Dyson any more (my ex got custody of it ) but he had a service done on it 2-3 years ago & you're right Edinburghlass, you're left with practically a new machine. the engineer even installed a brand new, not refurbished, motor :T & it's still going strong

    Hello all,
just had the Dyson engineer visit this morning, and it went very well.

He replaced a faulty pipe, which is a common issue apparently, and because of this, it was FOC - not a penny did it cost.

He also replaced a bit near the front that was missing the side bristles.

Excellent service, quick, friendly and efficient.

I would say well worth the money, but it was free :j :T

I'll definitely get another Dyson in the future :D

My Dyson had similar symptoms recently - it stopped picking up the dog's hair from the carpet despite plenty of suction from the hand held hose bit. I checked it for blockages (none) so DH used a scissors to cut away all the animal hair and threads that were wrapped around the bristles and, lo and behold, it's worked well ever since. Of course, it could be just a coincidence, because I can't see what hair would do to stop it picking-up.

I have a 3 year old dc-07 animal. I just got a new cyclone part as free a few weeks back as the vacuum cleaner was cutting out after 15 minutes or so, then it would work 5 mins later for a minute. I rang them today and they suggested a reapir maxmium cost is £55 so I went for it. They are coming tommorow, but I have to wait in all day unless I ring in the morning to get a better picture of what time they are coming,

The thing that does make me chuckle about the Dyson is that they keep
banging on about how many filters it has that cuts down dust particles
and also lowers dust getting on your chest blah blah blah.....

And then empty the thing and get covered in a cloud of dust... Crutch.gif
  • Hi Poppycat

Is your Dyson still under guarantee? Mine has just packed up and I can't decide whether to pay £55.00 to get them to come and repair it (think it needs a new motor) or whether to put that towards a new, astronomically-priced hoover! Mine's seven years old and not under guarantee anymore.

    Thanks -

    Tipsy

I don't think the Dyson service can be beaten, even tho there are better machines, Sebo, Miele, etc I would probably go for another Dyson because the service is so good. I also have one of their washing machines, when something went wrong with it I phoned around for a repair price, (they have to buy parts from Dyson, so it wasn't cheap) someone suggested phoning Dyson direct which I though would cost an arm and a leg. It turned out to be £80 for washing machine and £55 for vacuum. As it happened when he came out (same day) the repair was done for free.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Hi tipsychick, it isnt under guantee, although there could possible be a case under the sale of goods, ie reaosnable amont of time one would expect and item to last. Dysons aint cheap so one would expect them to last years I would of thought.

TBH although £55 is a lot to me I dont think £55 is unreasonable if they do a full service. they told me it could possible be the motor that needs replacing.

Just got my Dyson fixed. New motor, and a filter just above the motor (cant get access to that one), new pipe under at the bottom. Cost FREE :) He told me that they will gurantee them for 4 years. He was only here for 20 mins.

    I thought I would have to pay £55. :)
