Anyone had a Dyson Service visit?

Guys,
our Dyson DC07 is not picking up properly, when used as a push along cleaner.
It's ok at a slight angle, ie just off the vertical, but then it loses suction the further you angle it.
We've cleaned the filters, and no change.
Looked on the website, and rang them up, they reckon that the £55 inc Vat includes the service and any parts required - does it do what it says on the tin?

Our dyson was dropped and stopped working.Over the phone they reckoned it needed a new motor. We arranged a call out paid I think £40 (few years ago) and bloke came, fitted new one and it all worked hunky dory until very recently when it lost suction v.badly, change of filters made no diff. I am giving up on it and will buy a different brand when I've had a chance to peruse all the MSE threads on the subject.
...but the service/call out/parts bit worked fine and did what it said on the tin.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
I had a Dyson service. I had pulled the cabel out - ouch- and Dyson said if that's all it was it would be a discounted figure but when the Service Engineer arrived, he fixed the cable and the recommended I pay for the full service as he would the renew the hose that had a tear in it as well as giving the machine a full service.
It worked out a good deal for only about £10 more.
Also they come to you so much less inconvenient that finding a repair shop.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -
Get a friend who has a bit of savvy to strip it and check it , I have fixed my dc01 a number of times , dysons arent rocket science on the scale of machines and a friend will do it for a few quid0

There is a design fault with the dyson (well used to be)
If you look at the bootom of handle ther is 2 rubber flaps
is you bend the rubber flaps and put your finger up inside
check for any fluff an stuff caught up inside, as there is a
small screw that stuff gets tangled around.
On the older versions it did..

Thanks peeps - I've given it a reasonable overhaul myself already, cleared out all the possible areas that might have blockages, and checked for any leaks/tears in cables - none apparent.
£55 seems to virtually guarantee a working machine, then I'll go for it - it's 3.5 years old, and if £55 gets me another 2 years minimum out of it, then so be it.
Personaly I have been very happy with it, and will almost certainly get another Dyson when this finally gives up the ghost.

From what I understand via other users of MSE who have had the Dyson service they overhaul the whole thing and leave you with an almost new machine.
Mine is playing up at the moment and I think I will go for this too, £55 is
cheaper than buying a new machine.

EL, there's an online form, or if you search a bit more you can call them directly.
If you've registed your machine, they will know who you are, and what the model is by your Postcode/surname.
They managed to book me in for Friday, but said they could have managed today if required.
On the day, if you need to go out, you can ring them, and they should be able to give you an idea of when the engineer will call.
It's certainly started off well anyway!

Hi,
It may be worth going through the manual and looking at all the bits that can come apart for blockages. (sounds to me as though you may have a blockage in the small hose that connects the cleaning head).
If you don't have a manual go the the website and go to customer service and go through all the demos they have for finding the problem.
cheers

Not had the service, but did have a problem with my DCO7 a couple of months after I bought it. Called them and they sent a chap out next but one day and he will brilliant, fixed the problem and gave the machine a good once over. I was very happy and if I had to of paid for this I would of felt it was money well spent.0

My advise is dont waste money on servicing the dyson, its money down the drain. It's time to invest in a new hoover, try a sebo.
My dyson has lost suction and has been serviced count less times and still doesn't work right.0
