Good to see this has been bumped up.

Avoid at all cost The Spice Merchant near Greyfriars Road opposite the New Theatre - it's a new branch and truly dire.

We went on Saturday with 2 friends and walked out, everything was attrocious.

Very quiet - just a table of teachers from the NUT conference and two Toulouse fans.

Starters ordered, one which should have been prawns and mussels contained no mussels. My mixed kebab tasted awful, the lamb tikka was more like a piece of liver which had been cooked for an hour. The seekh kebab tasted of raw chili powder.

Mains came - I ordered lamb and spinach, my wife ordered chicken tikka and a tarka dhal side. We also had a duck dish and a chicken tikka masala.

First mouthful of mine and all I could taste again was raw chili powder - it burned the back of the throat, there was no other flavour. The lamb was thin strips which were crispy like twiglets. My wife's chicken tikka wasn't cooked and her king prawns were cold - her dish also tasted the same as mine, as did the duck and the chicken tikka masala - all raw chili powder. The duck sauce was cold. The lentils in the dhal were rock hard and they tasted of burnt garlic and of course raw chili powder.

Complained and received no apology from anyone, asked for the bill, which after 10 minutes failed to arrive.

We ended up walking out and leaving half the cost of the bill.

DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS SOMEONE IS PAYING OR YOU ARE PREPARED TO WALK OUT!

Cosmo down the Bay is good if you like buffet food, but very noisy.

    Wouldn't call Cosmo Indian though!?

Always been a fan of Spice Box on Woodville Road but apparently closed at the moment. Real home cooked food by the owners Mother!

Had a meal at Mint and Mustard on Whitchurch Rd last month. Was pretty good but not all that it has been made out to be!
