If my 3 year old is in my photo it means we don't have to buy him a pass for alton towers until my pass runs out :)

will thorpe park check his height? we take his pram to theme parks, to help with carting the picnics, coats etc. around (and alton towers is a big place, so his legs get tired on the hills) and nobody ever asked him to get out of the buggy to check his height.

Do you think thorpe will? I'd best look for a cheap ticket for him just in case. I would expect to pay for him at legoland, but from what I remember thorpe isn't much good for him? It didn't cross my mind until I read this thread - we haven't been anywhere except alton and warwick with the passes since he turned 1 metre tall.

Shame you have to pay for your little girl if she doesn't get much out of it :( my 3 year old is tall and is an adrenaline junkie, desperate to try every ride he sees so he's always got a lot out of theme parks.

If anyone is in the alton towers area by the way you can buy waterpark passes, but not with tesco vouchers. You get 25% off with a merlin pass, and toddlers don't need a pass until they turn 5. Family of 3 just means a family too, they don't exclude 12 year olds from being part of a family like the others do. I paid £72 for 3 of us, little one free.

We used the passes loads of times at Thorpe and Chesington. Our 3 year old was on our annual pass photo's. Despite being over 1 metre tall, they never once measured her height at any of the locations, though Legoland was not included in the pass when we had it.

Just print the one off from the tesco clubcard website. That is what I did and it worked for me.

I'm giving it a go today, I suppose if it doesn't work they will cancel my order and add my points onto my next statement?

  • I have used the trick of putting my 4 year old in the buggy at Chessington too to get through the entrance and even though I have always been carrying my toddler nobody has ever suggested getting the older one out to check her height (she is under 1m - just - but never fancied having to go through the bother of getting it checked).

This has worked at Legoland a couple of times too - interesting that Merlin have changed the wording for small kids on their website it always used to say that kids under 1 metre get in free to all of the parks, contradicting Legoland entry rule that 3 year olds have to pay. Was always ready to have an argument about it at Legoland but I guess I will have to get her a pass this year.

Ours have still not arrived, but I did try to 'use' one of the vouchers online today as a test and it said it had already been used so I am guessing it has been processed so hopefully we should receive them next week :j

Got a letter to say there was a problem - phoned up ready to argue......turned out one of my vouchers had my old address on! They have changed the address and are sending out my deal vouchers - phew!!

You could get a legoland annual pass for your daughter, and then merlin annual passes for the rest of the family. Cheaper than getting everyone merlin passes.
  • i dug out an older book the other day , and on the front it has Aug 2008 - Feb 2009 , so you have until the end of the month to mail them in and get them for £31.25...theoretically.
Many thanks for the posts on this thread.
Sent off 4 X £31.25 for four Merlins on Tuesday 24th Feb and got phone call today, Friday 27th Feb from Tesco, because one of my £3.50 vouchers had been previously used.
I was able to find a few unused vouchers, gave the lady a new voucher ref number and that was that. Lady said the letter should come through with Merlin paperwork in the next few days.
Nothing mentioned about the price increase from the 1st March.
Would not have known old price if i had not seen this fab thread. Avoided using an extra £25 of vouchers.
    Again many thanks to all.

If you read through the thread you will find some people have posted when they sent and received their vouchers.

I received mine this morning having received a letter on Monday asking me to call them as there was a problem with one of my vouchers - it had a different address which I had to verify. The lady I spoke to on Monday afternoon said that she could process the order and the vouchers would take about a week. The cover letter that came with the voucher was dated yesterday and it was sent first class. So I expect yours will arrive soon unless there is a problem, I sent mine off on Monday 16th and the letter asking me to call them arrived on Monday 23rd and the vouchers arrived Saturday 28th!
