  • and also the fact that if she can shovel snow, she's not got a back problem so is claiming disability benefit fraudulently. I agree with mrcow, report her, anonymously if you like.
Totally agree I wouldn't hesitate for someone as horrible as she sounds!!

  • I would not report her, she lives next door to you and may guess it was you who reported her, you could be opening up a whole can of worms.

Report her. If her OH is living with her, but is not then its fraud.

Taking what you are entitled to is one thing. We all take what we are entitled to. But fraud is stealing. She will just have to sort her life out whilst blaming others for her ineptness.

    Report her. Definitely.

i do wonder if she was delibertately trying to push your buttons for some reason...!? What a strange and stupid stupid woman she sounds!

Difficult to know whether to report her or not, it might make tensions much worse... she may well put 2+2 together... maybe wait a discreet time before shopping her...... for your own peace of mind.
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....
    (it's part of my charm!)
  • I'm with Maz. I'd wait for a little while as she is bound to tell many more people in the next couple of months as she is obviously not that discrete about it all. Then I'd shop her and she'd not be able to work out who has done it. People like her make a mockery of the benefits system which should just be there as a safety net.

There are many ways they could figure out that the OH is actually living with her - he's bound to have slipped up with his address at some point.

If she was regularly committing a different crime would that make a difference?

Fraud is no different to shop lifting or purse snatching.

If she is not committing it, then the report will come to nothing.
If she is committing it, then she is a criminal and should be punished and pay back what she has stolen.

    Hey,

if that lady is on disability, my guess is she went through what I had to. Having a medical and all that (I'm techinically on incapacity but I filled in a permitted work form and they pay my NI credits not me any money)

The doctor I had said a lot of people play it up and it was a joy to meet someone who plays it down (As I did, apparently) but I just don't want to quit work full stop. I need a job that doesn't aggravate my leg. Luckily I am starting one in about 5 weeks.

Report the lady if you must but most get caught out eventually.
Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

  • Sounds very much like my old neighbour. Would stand chatting about how 'hard up' she was, but she got housing benefit, single persons council tax as her partner 'doesn't use this address so he's not really living here'! How does that work?!?!?

She always had new stuff, never second hand or made do. I will confess I have reported her now I've moved. It can be done online.

As for child benefit, it is not 'means' tested, everyone is entitled to it regardless of how much they earn, as long as they have children. She needs to learn her facts!

I don't understand why you don't think you could report her, but if it helps pm me the details and I'll do it for you.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
