Most firms have one or two directors that are ex-mil; that is no coincidence. They love the attitude and the experience that those personas bring.

i can tell you, quite categorically, that the majority of firms do not have a single director with military experience.

Why not take a look at the board of directors of British Aerospace, MBDA, Westlands, Chemring, Rolls Royce, Marshalls, Airbus, EADS, Boeing UK together with a whole host of others.

Virgin employs approximately 70% of ex-mil pilots, slightly less but still significant number for BA, Monarch, netjets and flybe. You also want to look into jobs that involve human factors and human failings (nuclear industry), deep sea diving, civvie mine disposal, finance (yes, finance), close protection, as well as the mobile phone industry just to see the depth of experience former mil technical specialists bring. The stereotypical image of the mil being a bunch of trained netherandals is long gone. by far, we are a highly trained group of technical specialists with commercially viable skill sets.

Look, my point is not that we all need to leave as extremely as I am at the mo, I am only doing it for the short term, around 2 years to get a solid deposit. However, would I be happy to carry on? Yes, most definitely. As the above poster says, living a good life is a priority. Why does spending money on tat have to be the be all and end all? I did all of that, and now, as I look back, realise it was wasted life, and wasted opportunities.

I was genuinely wanting to see how others spending compared for those in a similar situation, and see if I was missing any tricks to whittle down a few quid here or there. For example, I have just found we can reduce our mobile phone bill today by 25% by going on a business contract with the same company. It was this sort of advice I was looking for, not abuse.

Aaaah. Wrong board. Your posting confused people here because it was so unusual/out of place. The Old Style Board and Debt Free Wannabe Boards are normally where an SOA is seen, never here. Well, not never now.

I think you spend a lot on food. You must be the size of small planets.

:):) We like to eat well. its one of our luxuries.

Plus, dinner parties rock. One a month on average, we like going round to others too.

Far cheaper than eating some muck that has been cooked in some horrid kitchen.

I went here and viewed some scores for outwardly nice looking places that had some horror stories in the survey....

I've never been to a dinner party. They're a bit of a middle-class or middle-class aspirational thing, for couples.

Looked at scoresonthedoors and there's nothing there for anywhere near I live, so no idea still which kebab shop to get kebab meat and chips from.
