My new modem came from my IP provider, plugged in, got online but still can't get onto my OU Lyceum (need it for my Spanish course as most of my tutorials and my exam are online ). I'm stumped now - my BIL will have to come round and try to get the blasted thing up and running - if not, most of the £410 course fee will be a waste and i'll be at a distinct disadvantage - i'm so frustrated, I could cry :confused:

Not su how the problem started but obviously you can get on line so that can't be the problem. Which browser are you using? I use Firefox most of the time but there are a few sites that don't like it and I have to use the evil IE for those eg the school website. You've probably already tried that but sometimes we can't see the wood for the trees ;)

Showered, just supping my :coffee: before I dry my hair and head off to collect W for his appt.

  • likklegibbon- can your BIL bring round a laptop to see if it works via another laptop to see whether it is the site or your computer or the modem IYSWIM.

Oaky its not flyladying but we do need a laugh every now and then ..so please don't whip me pig-pen.................actually...

A public school teacher was arrested today at Gatwick Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Home Secretary John Reid said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the Metropolitan Police with carrying weapons of maths instruction.

"Al-gebra is a problem for us," Reid said. "They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute values. They use secret code names like 'x` and `y` and refer to themselves as `unknowns,` but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with co-ordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle".

When asked to comment on the arrest, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, speaking from his holiday resort before the planes stopped flying, said, "If God had wanted us to have better Weapons of Maths Instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes."
