hello there
we are having a LOT of problems with our post. We often get the mail for other people, often, but not always, on the same road as us. We sometimes get the post for a house in a road across the town which has a similar road name and often for the people who have the same house number in a different road near to us. Did any one follow that !!

I don't mind too much about getting the wrong post (we always redirect it) but I am really bothered about my stuff going missing. So far this year I know that my ds1's p60 has been sent to us but has not arrived and at least one bank statement.

I have complained to the post office, but it still happens

does any one know where I go next and has anyone done anything like this???
many thanks

  • We get this all the time. Get the mail for a street with a similar name, although different post code. We have even re directed it and had it come back 3 or 4 times. It was no use complaining as they just said they could do nothing about it

did you speak to a manager or just the guys on the desk?
if you go in,insist on a manager and get a name.
if you go via customer services then keep on at them.

in either case, keep a note of the days and what addresses are misdelivered
no point saying you get it all the time.
we need specific dates to see who was on and what the issue is
  • It was just the guy on the desk we saw. Will keep a log of the days etc now. Thank you.

Our postal service has degenerated into a total farce where we live, to a point where it is unusable for anything of importance.

Just about anything that looks like it contains something interesting arrives opened - our credit card companies sent our new cards out three times before we ended up collecting them from a local branch, and any birthday cards are almost certainly opened.

We get our neighbours post, and even post for several streets away. Anything that requires signing for simply has a note stuffed through the door - I challenged the postman when I caught him doing this and he told me his mate had already taken the parcel back when he tried 10 minutes earlier (!!!).

We were still receiving Christmas cards in the middle of January.

We received a letter last week for a Merseyside address (we live just outside London) - only the street name and house number was correct - I hate to think the number of automated machines and people it went past and not one spotted that mistake. And that letter appeared to contain credit cards.

We have complained to the police about the constant pilfering, ands they refer us to the post office, who then fob us off with a standard letter.

I note with interest that the passport office no longer trust the post office with passports.

David try complaining to the independent ombudsman - Post Office Users' National Council and/or Postwatch

This is the consumer watchdog for Parcelforce, Post Office Counters, Royal Mail and other postal providers. It helps business and domestic customers. It has special interests in supporting customers who are disabled or chronically ill, pensioners, on low incomes or living in rural areas. Complaints can be made online or by contacting the complaints hotline. People living in areas covered by the CM postcode should contact:
