OP - you have my complete and utter sympathy. About four years ago we spent two whole years complaining about missing post to the post office customer services, post watch and the local delivery office - if there was any avenue of complaint to follow we followed it.
For these 2 years, we had various bank statements, credit card statements, new credit cards, Birthday cards, CD's and DVD's ordered online, Christmas and Birthday gifts undelivered. On one memorable occasion I ordered 3 DVD's from play.com who sent them out in three separate packages - not ONE of them arrived and still neither the Royal Mail customer services or the local delivery office was interested.
Then one day the local dustbin collection found a split black bag stuffed with mail. They reported this to the police, who after an investigation found a local postman had been squirreling away anything he couldn't be bothered to deliver, keeping anything he fancied and selling what he didn't want that had saleable value. He was about to move home and faced with a shed and loft full of undelivered mail got desperate to dispose of it - hence putting some of it out with the rubbish.
When I complained to Royal Mail and the local delivery office (whose Manager had always been so b****y certain none of his staff could have been at fault ) that if they had investigated my complaints properly the thief would have been apprehended much sooner, they told me to be grateful that at least I hadn't had my bank and credit card statements stolen by an identity thief :eek::eek: I am still speechless!People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
