hey all,
congratulations to everyone for the brilliant losses :j
started my first day today with avengeance :A, although I wouldn't say I've found it easy, had to turn down my traditional wednesday lunch with my flatmate, a brownie has never seemed quite so tempting as it did today  , following a detox plan for the first 2 weeks, http://www.ivillage.co.uk/health/hlive/style/articles/0,,181167_576091,00.html
thats if any of u are interested, although i'm not sure how well it fits in with SW/WW.
I had a dinner tonight that I think may be fairly syn free if its any use to any of you! A baked potato with tomato, spinach, garlic, kidneybeans and onion all cooked together. Not something I'd normally make, but I was within the detox restrictions, and it wasn't at all bad, tho I did load it with garlic.
For a syn-free dessert I had something I'v been reading about on another thread: frozen banana :T i dont like the texture of bananas normally but this was nice!
Did my measurements this morning, didnt quite pluck up the courage to go and get weighed at the health centre, so need to purchase some scales fairly soon. At least I know what I'm starting off with.
Have fallen into the trap of slightly obsessing about every meal and ended up thinking about food most of the daybut I'm sure that will improve!
Good luck to everyone else

Good Luck Katia, report back and let us know how you are getting on! We talked about the frozen banana at SW. Apparently you freeze them without their skin - is that right? How long do you freeze them for?
Jane - a glass of wine is 5syns, a vodka is 2 1/2 so get twice as many vodka and diet cokes for a glass of wine!! :rotfl:
I lost weight well when i wasn't having anything to drink (4lb week, on 2 occasions), the weekends that I did drink I stuck to vodka (bad idea the next day :rotfl: ) and the weight loss was much slower. To be fair, I wasn't as strict with myself on the food front those weeks. Alcopops are pretty high in syns so you are best sticking to spirits

Lots of people did different things! Some sliced it, some put it in whole, I did mine in its skin (apparently this makes its sweeter) and then mashed it up after 1/2 an hr in the freezer, could hav probably done with a little bit longer!
I'll keep you all updated as and when I have access to scalesi can never think of anything witty to write :rolleyes:0 -
I'm making lemon cake tomoorow and it's only 2 1/2 sins for the WHOLE cake
Hands up who wants the recipe?
Katia, your tea is completely syn free on a green day at SW.
Home bargains have some excellent digital scales at the moment for £7.99 and as you're in the north, there should be one close by for you if you're interested.I haven't got one!0 -
Some of the larger Boots stores or local chemists have scales in them - the last time I used the one in Boots (last year) it was about 20p a go - that might save you buyin them0

I dont really eat my syns.... i know this may be wrong but once i start eating something i like i just want more! so its easier for me not to eat the nice things in life. i eat a lot of fruit, as i spend a lot of time in the car it was always easy for me to pick a sandwich, crisps, chocolate up in the garage or local shop. Now i just make sure i have enough fruit in the car to munch on. I tend to eat more red days than green as i have a higher weight loss on red. I dont drink alchohol if i can help it as i dont do hangovers!!
i eat a lot of fish and steamed veg. Often have a cooked breakfast with egg, bacon, quorn sausage, mushroom and tomatoes for breakfast if im on a late start and that sees me through most of the day.
I do have a Chinese Takeaway every weekend but tend to stick within 15 syns for this.
I eat 2 grapefruits a day and when theyre at a reasonable price strawberries.
Does anyone ever cook from the recipes in the magazines? i made a fab curry the other night from one of them :rotfl: i think i shall take a breath now!0 -

Was anyone else told that when they changed the consistency of bananas in SW they became syns???0 -
I'm not doing SW but :T two hands for the recipe anyway!!! I haven't baked in ages:drool:.
I'm just being a wuss and trying to avoid the humiliation of getting weighed anywhere vaguely public :embarasse
I'm home this weekend, so I can have my first weigh in on saturday, which is a little bit early, but at least it will giv me an idea! And hopefully I'll have come up with a solution (or some courage!!) by wednesday:undecided!
