  • Hi Sarah

:T Many thanks for sharing the info. I, like you, prefer to pay just 1 company for line rental and telephone so to learn that Sky will also take over this service is even better news. :D

I am currently paying £22 for Telephone (incl line rental) to Tesco, £14.99 for 'Value' Broadband to Tesco (supposed to be less but apparantly I am paying an additional .50p a month for internet security I dont have let alone use from them! ). Plus £32 to Sky for TV (I have £21 package for Sky+ and an extra box with multiroom which we seem to use just as I was considering getting rid of said second subscription!)

So in total I am paying around £60 a month for all 3!!!! So am wondering how much better off I could be.

On the downside it means less Tesco clubcard points which I save to spend on presents for birthdays / xmas and extra food for such occasions or the odd larger purchase that is required (such as a vacuum cleaner etc :o ).

    Thanks :D

Ahh, the dreaded pay one company for all. Never understood that myself, to me it doesn't matter if I pay one or 6, as long as I get the best and cheapest deal. However recently it can sometimes work out cheaper to have one company for all, though even still not often.

Work out the value of the Tesco clubcard points, you'll probably find it's only pennies worth each month, compare that to the possibility of saving pounds per month.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Thanks. Tesco clubcard points / vouchers in total it is around 200 points a month I get from various contracts with Tesco services then any shopping on top.

These re-generate themselves if I spend the vouchers instore or if I send them back as unused they are recredited to my next statement.

They are generally only used when required. So can accumilate quickly.

    Thanks

    :)

  • Hi all,

I'm in a similar situation as you all, as I'm paying a lot currently on Sky TV and saw some advertised deals for a package of TV, Phone and Broadband which I'm not sure if that applies to existing customers??

Bascially I'm paying £60 for my Sky TV package alone (i.e. Sky HD with movies channels and multiroom), Landline with BT £18 (line rental and almost no calls made from that line) and Broadband with Orange (£22)..so that total up to £100 per month for the 3 things_pale_ . That's why I'm looking into better deals and ideally combine to Sky.

The thing I'm not sure about is the line rental from BT, We've only moved to this house 6 months ago and if BT contracted us for 12 months, does that mean we can't move to other companies yet? We were with BT as well in our other house previously, doesn that not count towards 12 months?

Also, having check on the LLU availability from the site recommended above, I'm very confused as there is a Tick next the LLU services on the Boardband availability service overview but on LLU operator presence, only O2 got a tick and everything else including Sky/Easynet got a X...does that mean No sky boardband in my area? It also says that Ofcom classification as Market 1 This exchange has BT Wholesale as the sole provider of broadband services.
So, does that mean again that I only have limited choice???

These all seems too technical for me:embarasse...and I know I should really phone sky and find out but I find that such a traumatic experience  with them on the phone in the past that really puts me off..pasting from one person to next and explain yourselves over and over again without going anywhere for hours?!

Any help will be much appreciated! Thx

I suppose the obvious question is do you need the full package from Sky?
Your line rental from BT suggests you are on the wrong plan, it should only be around £11.
If you are in a non LLU area Sky broadband would cost you £17/month
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • oooh im gonna jump in this boat (hold on tight thou me bums big !)

currently have : Broadband with madasafish £14.xx
    Sky tv £16.50
BT line rental + calls £30 pm av.

quotes ive had so far are

Sky tv £16.50 line rental £10 (half price for 6 months) broadband £17

    OR

stay as is and madasafish will discount down to £7 p/m

ive been told that they should give me a better offer than the above for sky but got cut off from retentions and when i called back the really agressive CS rep wouldnt put me through !

will keep this thread updated with prices etc .
