    Hi all
very new to this website, but what i've read so far - very helpful.
Anyway my problem is credit card debt of £6200 and an overdraft with Abbey National of £1000. I rang DFH Financial Solutions and they have agreed to sort this out with the credit card companies at a cost of £200 per month. I've had the paperwork this morning but a bit confusing really. In the letter it says they will TRY and freeze the interest on the cards - what if they can't what then? They say I will be debt free in 3yrs & 9 months. They stressed on the phone that it was not a DMP but a Consolidation Programme? They also told me to close my bank account with Abbey and open a bank account with Lloyds TSB. I havent missed payments on my cards but only paying the minimum amount as money is very tight, so their going up with interest! I'm concerned that DFH will be slow in paying the companies then my creditscore has gone down the pan!!
    Help please :(

I decided to go with these crooks and then changed my mind because i felt surely if these people can negotiate with my creditors, then so can i. I ended up losing £320 because i did not cancel my policy within 1 week....1 flipping week...£320 down the pan for them doing naff all. Also, when i was in my contract i asked them when my agreed £250 would start and come off my cards..the reply was after about 3 months...but thats £750 they have had and done chuff all. I have also managed to negiotiate with my cards as well. They are crook, trust me stay well clear.

I am about 2 weeks into a plan with this company I am worried now ... like some of your posters I haven't missed payments but the debt isn't reducing as I am only paying min amounts... have I made a bad choice! they have been so helpful so far

Of course they have been helpful, you are paying them money to send a letter to your credit card company, which you can do yourself by the way. I actually phoned my credit card companies and was open and honest with them, and they were actually very helpful and i have arranged a payment plan with them. DFH, well, after about a week with them i asked them when will my balances start coming off...they said after about 3 months. 3 months i said, well i am paying you £250/month, whats happening with that money? Reply was, we are using that to set up your account...thats £750 for sending a letter with a breakdown of my outgoings...i can flipping do that. I cancelled with them and lost £350 in the process because i did not cancel within 1 week. Stay away and do it yourself, they are crooks.

not sure if this is going to make you feel better or not, but i am going to stick with it, as i have cancelled all my direct debts with my creditors and it will be too much hassle for me (yes i am lazy!!)

it soudns really horrible but i am glad there are others out there in my situation, makes me feel a lil bit better!!

spoke to DFH yesterday about the signature thing and they told me it is a scaremongering tactic and to avoid speaking or signing anything with them and to forward all correspondence to DFh for them to deal with, so even though i am paying them to deal with my creditors, at least i can see that they are actually doing something about it!!

    good luck to you all

Stay away from them...what you are paying them you can easily do yourself. I went with them but when i asked what was happening with my £250, they said the first 3 months are used to set up my account..set up my account for sending a standard letter to my credit card companies...i can do that. I cancelled immediately, and lost £350 for them doing naff all.
  • yes we got caught by DFS but wasnt told about the 3 months of waiting to pay the creditors so we have lost almost £1000 which we could of paid off our dedts/ I have now gone with a new one called PAYPLAN they do not charge you any fee,s and all your money you pay go towards your debts.
  • I have cancelled my DFH plan as well, I was prepared to pay the £80 a month as "it was my own fault" but I wasnt getting the promised service, ie calls not being returned and no offers coming forward after 4 months. They said that my financial statement was confidential B2B information which I was not party to.

Even worse, they diddled the figures so that the extra income I stated was put in as an extra expenditure. I was specific in telling them what it was. Payplan said they could help but my monthly payment would "double" to over £800.

I am now putting away money into a savings account each month then using that accounot to pay off my debts as and when I get enough to settle an account.

Lost £1200 in fees, shafted my credit file and now have to go it alone. Thats the last time I ever let a salesman try and talk me into anything again (he was actually their "Training Manager")

Hi, only just joined this site-and this thread is very old-However as a former DFH customer, i would briefly offer the benefit of my experience with them as i used them for a couple of years:mad:

    [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

They constantly made late payments, and it took over a year before creditor letters and phonecalls stopped.

[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] i left DFH as quickly as possible!
Do yourself a favour, DO NOT pay a debt management company-they charge for basically transferring money from you to your creditor-just cut out the middleman and get free debt advice.
  • Have been with DFH and have terminated my agreement with them in writing (special delivery) over a week ago requesting written confirmation that they would cancel the standing order within 7 days of the letter and hand back any documents within 14 days of the letter.

So far, I heard nothing, nowt, nada from them

I didn't realise either that the first 3 months were their 'set up fee' and at £600 a month, that's a nice sum of £1800. I wasn't told about the defaults either. Lucky only 2 of my 6 creditors defaulted me and with paying loads and some money from my mum I am down to 3 creditors and back to paying as per my credit agreement.

wierd really I applied on line for a loan for people with a CCJ and though as I have not got one YET I would try a load even if its high interest................this mob contacted and me and sounded very good............that good I decided to check up on them and jesus when they phoned back they got real stroppy when I told them to save the stamp I had decided not to go with them.

The problem is on the 18 of April I will be getting a CCJ as moorcroft are refusing to take a payment plan outside of court.

Any one got any suggestions if I can find the corect place to post a thread I can give you chapter and verse on how I was stitched up.

OH BTW I have 100 grand avaiulable on the house but cant access it as the Bloody NAt west credit card service went against an agreement I made with them..........oh and credit scores dont make a blind bit of difference as mine is 884 and is in the GOOD category. Top 28% of the country. I still cant access the available balance on my mortgage all because of a dodgy mortgage advisor at the TSB.

    Banks??? Nothing but crooks.

moorcrofts are determined to get me a CCJ at ALL cost....why I dont know???
