It was looking for a rental for our daughter. We phoned the office, and they said we could join in a double viewing. They didn't tell the agent doing the viewing, who was surprised to see the three of us and the three of them waiting outside the house. Somehow he assumed that it was the others doing the gatecrashing, and was fairly formal to them.
Nor had they told the tenant. We were wandering around the lounge (actually the seven of us had to shuffle) when out from the bathroom emerges the semi-naked tenant. He quickly rushed upstairs to sort out his room, before the main party arrived.
And so on to house two, a couple of streets away. Empty this time, which would have been good news except the agent had brought the wrong keys, so one at a time, seven of us had to be satisfied with staring through the letterbox.
  • Oooh - I have looked round a house with dirty pants all over the bedroom floor......yuk!!

We had a look at one where the neighbours came out and stared at us - all in a row in height order, bad haircuts and dodgy teeth. I tried not to hum duelling banjos!!

But the worst ever was the one with 5 old english sheepdogs. 3 had been locked in a small car for the viewing. There wasnt an surface downstairs that hadnt been chewwed/scraped/stained/eaten/made very very smelly. The house had been redecorated - ie coving, carpets, bits of wall missing, random bits of wall painted - others not. It was bizarre. But the worst was the smell. I had to keep going into the garden as I felt ill after a few minutes. But the garden was awful too!!!!!

Then there was the one which had ceiling fans in every room - 2 in the kitchen - one below my head height - 5'7". They even had 4 air conditioners. Why - when in England does it ever get that warm??!!!:rotfl:

there was another where they had taken down the fence between them and the neighbours. I dont need boundary fence disputes.....

This thread is great! Mine isn't as good as the rest but it's all I have. I met an EA to show me around an empty house. It was a decent size for the price, didn't need anything done to it but wasn't in a great area and has a relatively notorious gypsy site within walking distance.

On entering the place we found that every single room STANK of urine (possibly cat - but to your relief, I'm no expert). I could tell the EA was equally appalled and possibly not expecting it. She told me it would be fine if I left the patio doors open "for a couple of days". I declined.

We didn’t bother looking at the bathroom and decided there and then that the property really wasn’t for us.

It took you THAT long to decide that?!?

No ... there were a few things that put us off a bit before that lol ;) Tbh by that point we just wanted to see how much weirder it would get so we just played along - I think that's why the agent thought we were interested :)

LOL was on scene at a death once because of my (previous) work. :)
Actually twice but the second one was only dead 12 hours so it didn't smell... and I didn't actually see that one.

Ah, it was worth it to be able to tell the full story at times like this!

    Thanks for sharing - brilliant.

I try not to think about dead bodies - I am sure that a number of houses/flats have had them in them... and some rather stinky.

we went to one several years ago, two bed terrance house nice couple selling and wanted to make us tea etc when we had only been in the house for 10 mins etc, house was nice and perfect for us at the time. Got to the master bedroom and the lady of the house hadn't put away her lady toys from the night before (or morning) and well she had a lovely selection (20 plus easily) all stacked on their ends on the bedside table!!!!. It was my missus creasing up next to me then i realised what she was laughing at, and then we were both in fit of giggles and we quickly moved onto the over bedroom.

really liked the house, couldnt got back for a second viewing though.

The EA was true class, phoned for feedback and I mentioned the lady toys on the table. He was sorry lady toys I don't understand, sorry erm lady toys, oh yes right lady toys, oh right, ok, erm ok, and then pure silence before he burst into laughter with tears! which then set me off again.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
