Required ID for a Barclays account???

My canadian girlfriend has recently had her UK visa application accepted, and will be moving here in mid-April for 2 years. As I already bank with Barclays we wish to open a Barclays account for her as soon as she arrives. What forms of ID will Barclays require for her, bearing in mind she is new to the country?
Thank you
Thank you

Cashback Earnt so far in 2009: AMEX £133.93, wepromiseto.co.uk £67.07, Barclaycard £25, MobilePhoneExchange: £28. TOTAL: £254.00

As for ID, her passport. Not sure about the address. She could also be on the voters roll, as Canada is a commonwealth country. Get her on that. http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?task=popup1group&value=7551&target=_blank&site=pfs
As for the physical form for address, I don't know. I would go to Barclays and ask for their advice.0 -

Suppose the OP could ring the water board/eclectric people and get her added then request a new direct debit form or something - this should produce a letter in both names... Utility companies simply add partners to an account and can do it over the phone without ID...... or do that now and await a bill, surely they come March if quarterly? Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

You got a point there. It's more convinient to do this than what I said in my previous post.0 -
Passport should be sufficient...maybe driving licence as well and of course proof of residence in UK. This could be a bill or a letter showing your gf's current address in UK. The best way would be to register with the local GP as they will sent out a medical card with your gf's name and address on it within 2 weeks. Contact the council about the Elect roll requirements. She might have to stay in UK for a number of years before she is allowed to be listed on the Elect roll. I could be wrong on this.0

I'm currently living with my parents, so for the moment this isn't possibleI will have to pop into the branch this week I guess, I just wanted to make sure what people say on here ties up with what I'm told in branch - we've all had it where one employee from a company states one thing, when another employee will say something completely different.

Medical cards as proof of address can only be used if you are under 18.
She could be on the voters roll, as Commonewalth citizens can vote, as I said already. The Electoral Commision website said it also. My friend is a British citizen who wasn't born here, and never lived in Britain before. British citizenship was passed on from parents. She hasn't lived her until 2002. When she arrived in 2002, she put her name on the voters roll, and she was added. Councils don't call up or anything like that to confirm things.0 -

That link is great! I should've looked before posting but thought that information for foreign applications would be harder to find.Cashback Earnt so far in 2009: AMEX £133.93, wepromiseto.co.uk £67.07, Barclaycard £25, MobilePhoneExchange: £28. TOTAL: £254.000 -

Instead of going into branch tomorrow, you could go to the Barlcays website, and go onto random sites on it, and wait for a pop up to appear. After a while, you will see a pop up window. Accept the invitation for a web chat with an advisor who can help you with a variety of things. Not sure if it works on weekends though, depending if the staff work though.0
