I don't know if it's just our Tesco, but they had none of their own Peanut Butter on the shelves and the Sunpat was over £2 a jar
No own brand peanut butter in Northwich Tesco today.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
I've noticed that in all supermakets the own brand/value stuff is gettign harder and harder to find. Dh tried to buy cheap fizzy water in Tescos - the space was empty and he counted that there was only rom for 12 bottles now - it used to have a huge gap on the shelf. I think that they are delibarately stocking less of it, and less o fanythign on offer. This way they can still claim to be cheap but when you get there you end up buyign loads of branded/non-offer stuff becasue all of the cheaper lines are sold out.0

ASDAs curry sauce was 4p now 28p  I couldnt believe it!
Not been on in ages, hope everyone is ok. Im now 25+1 weeks pregnant and am stocking up on freebies off freecycle - got some left over lilac and pale green paint to help decorate the nursery with :j save me buying tins that i wont use alot of.
Does anyone on here use a Mooncup or a Femmecup? I was looking into them today for after baby - loads of time to decide but wanted to know what you lot thought?

Less value stuff in my tesco as the space has been given over to the "market value" stuff! Meant to be competing with aldi, but I have yet to be convinced! I can buy most of my shopping way cheaper in Asda at the mo - frozen veg is about 30% cheaper than tesco, and canned goods are generally at the old prices tesco used to charge!
What is happening with flour? Big price increases on the value stuff! argh!
Any chance of the maple syrup recipe again, seems to have disappeared. Need some for my baked bean recipe too! Haricot beans soaked and boiled and waiting to be turned into baked beans and frozen - kids have all been told that in future beans will not be in tins, but in bags from our freezer!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
happytails, I use a mooncup - marvellous thing it is too. Have the odd problem one night a month, so additional reinforcement needed then iykwim, but otherwise fine. No monthly expenditures, which is nice. No cramping either, which is a bonus.0

Pancake Syrup:
3 cups granulated sugar
1 ½ cups water
3 TBSP molasses
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp butter flavouring
1 tsp maple extract
Bring to the boil, stirring until sugar dissolves (a good rolling boil). Turn off burner, but leave pot on burner until bubbling stops.0 -
On the supermarket and value products subject, I think the supermarkets are just playing games with prices so that they can up their quota of "reduced" or "rolled back" items. Certainly in Asda and Tesco things like flour and dried fruit have been constantly changing from high price to low price over the last three months or so and when they are cheap they have big "rolled back" stickers on them at Asda.
I buy in bulk anyway so I make sure I buy lots of a product when it's at a low price and then I just don't buy it when its price is higher.
Its irritating though, so far my Tesco online shopping hasn't been too badly effected by empty shelves.Piglet

re lack of value products....
A friend of mine works at sainsburys (management something) and said that at this time of year they have to make space for additional festive items ie:the ones that make them more money!
So off the shelves come the least moneymaking items (not just own brand value) until January. And yes they do come back at more money:rolleyes:
Found this out after I asked him where my double pack of value cookies had gone!0
