I have just seen june 2009 as a possibility. I hope so, I and countless others have had enough of this shower of a labour tax and spend government

I agree the Labour lot have made a right mess of things but I wish we had a decent opposition, Green Dave will not take the drastic measures that are needed.

Having lived nearly all my life under a Conservative government, in 97 I was happy as a "pig in !!!!!!" when Labour took over, the negatives sadly have far outweighed the positives since they've been in.

When the election has come and gone im afraid very little will change.:rolleyes: and after a year or so we will still be on here saying how bad the Conservatives are governing and some saying how we need a change.

Same !!!!!! different day.:rolleyes: Ho - hum.

We will have the same old rhetoric, "we need time to sort out the problems we have inherited" sound familiar?

I am almost certain that the election will be next summer, for a number of reasons:

1. The economic outlook isn't going to get any better in the next few months
2. Brown will be hoping for some signs of recovery before going to the election (much the same as John Major's position holding out until 1992 during the last recession)
3. Brown will see forging a new progressive consensus with Obama and other leaders as his best shot. The G20 summit in April will be the start of reshaping the global financial system - even if reelection is impossible Brown will see forging this new system as his duty as Cameron currently stands alone in world opinion.

So, May or June 2010. And I wouldn't bet against June - we don't need to have an election every 5 years, merely a parliament sitting for no longer than 5 years. John Major took us 5 years 1 months between the 1992 and 1997 elections.

Some of the trouble in the past has been our PM,s going around the world preaching our "democracy" and acting as the worlds Police force. Whoever wins needs to sort this country out before trying to be the "worlds saviour".
But of course they wont, image is far more important than substance.

Y'know, there was a politician on Radio 5 today talking about the economy.

I was listening to him talk and was actually pleasantly surprised at how much I agreed with what he was saying and was also impressed with the passion of his delivery on the rights and wrongs of government policy etc
It wasn't until the end of the interview that I found out who it was - Nick Clegg. :eek:

Guess I'll be voting for the Lib-dems this time around!
