Yeah its only money though eh? Strike me down (sorry Martin!!)

I've decided I'm going to list a few (alot) of books on Amazon - and gather my ebay clutter and sort plants etc out for selling - and maybe seeds I've tonnes of carp um I mean - very lovely sellable plants, seeds etc

My books though *SNIFF* - although I do have a monster collection of plant/gardening/botany/craft/cooking books - hundreds in fact - I consider books to be good heart insulation - like that fibre glass stuff - but for your heart!

And tonnes of lego - well 4-5 curver boxes full of the stuff all sorts of lego stuff infact - boats, technic, baby, vikings, bionicales, castles, pirates ohhhh - must venture into the 'attic playroom' and survey the stuff that's up there - DS is too old for that stuff now.

And if I sell it - I don't have to move it :)

Oh Fay, what a shame, I'm so sorry - but, selling books in the discipline that you love? I'm all for you selling seeds and plants and stuff, thats a brilliant idea, but wait a bit before you put books that you love up for sale.... the stuff I sell, its stuff I'd give to the charity shop or keep simply because its valuable, not stuff that I *want*.

    Lots of hugs.

sorry to hear about the would be lodger, but maybe it's just another step along the road of opting for not paying for the carpets and having the stone/wooden flooring which will look beautiful and add to character.
  • hey chaps its a snow day! chaos here - sent home

Yeah chaps you're right and due ot snow I can't go and view said carpets - so maybe that's the gods acting to save me? KC books yeah I do need to HONE a bit though as I've books on this topic coming out of my ears..........................

March and May are going to be uber tight -

March is due to deposits and now no lodger in the downstairs room
May is due to German lodger being on her 'deposit' month and then only staying half a month in June

June is better cos new lodgers will be here then
July I am in 'rent profit' - :) as my deposit from here kicks in and I don't pay rent and I also have the new lodgers @ £500 a month so I'm actually in rent profit that month!

SO over all it won't be too bad - just as always PEAKS and TROUGHS

Thinking of restarting diary bits - read over start the other day and I'm in such a *different* place thanks to you lot :)

The attack of the stripey socks - further adventures in DFW land :) ?

Regarding wooden floors, they can be very draughty. I once had a go at sanding floors and I spent more time putting new belts on. If I could've picked it up and thrown it I would've.

Thats v true L - I'm thinking of making them a cash take it or leave it offer

She's emailed me with details of what they wanted for £1000

7 carpets fitted (6 months old) neutral colours quite nice - rooms are all in excess of 4x3m
    1 shiela maid airer (ceiliing)
    4 washing poles
4 sets curtains for conservatory/upstairs living room

IMHO just go with the cash offer it just seems to me that they want to try to get something back , I know I would but £1000 seems steep, a new airer on ebays £44 ish , cant see washing poles being a huge amount.

I'm glad you've emailed - £1000 seems *very* steep to me. Sounds like they want to recoup all of their costs from you - and thats not on. Its their problem that they bought new carpets just before they wanted to move, not yours. Your mums are spot on - you're great at finding solutions - just look at your previous post about rent, and how you keep adapting your actions to what the situation needs! You'll do great.

  • Waves hello to KC - :) My real mum also offered to lend me the carpet amount until I have my 'rent profit month' - which was lovely of her.

My other 'surrogate' mother offered her CC - what a lovely bunch!
