Re the woodburning stove. Can you get the landlord to open the chimney on the proviso that you will leave the stove as payment? We put a multifuel in here and even though the place is rented and falling to bits we have resigned ourselves to the fact that we will leave it behind if we ever move.

Oooh, Fay, a lovely new house!!! How very exciting! And a new lodger! Stripey power is well in force today!

(I did buy a new pair of white and grey and pink stripey socks myself today actually - I must have sensed the vibes!)

Missed the pic, but am excited just thinking about it! :):):)

just checked out your stripey store, and it's just proven how much we are alike - you've no polish in the house! glad to see you've specified which shampoo and conditioner is for peedie. :) I have decided that seeing mash on your list is much worse than seeing a g'pig in your freezer!

Oh great I forgot to get polish yesterday AGAIN - my mrs mop drinks it I think - we've a huge wooden stair case here and she does like ot make it all shiney - I've never used so much polish in my life - she's now religated to value polish..........even if I dont have any or decided ages ago I didnt want to use it - she just goes out and buys posh stuff and leaves me the receipt (lovely of her to get it but OMG she's obsessed!!!!)

Or sprays it about whilst having her feet up and drinking tea :rotfl:

DD slightly everso slightly freaked at a boy lodger - funny he's only 4 or 5 years older than DS - Will talk to her tonight about it properly - she's getting to the shy stage :A but as its the downstairs bedsit - he only needs to venture up for the bathroom/shower - we've a downstairs loo by the bedsit - so we never saw the prevous person much.

    Hugs chaps

Cheery lovely to see you - sorry just read your blog last night - sorry to hear you've been poorly - did you mention it and I missed it? You'll love hte house - amazing views out to Hoy and Stromness :)

Hopefully your good things outweigh the bad Fay! You'll be ready to pay off Gargamel ever so soon! And hopefully your stripey stores will allow you to deal with both students and Evil Supervisor...

... just popped in to do a little cheery dance of my own! I think the stripey socks I bought yesterday paid off - I got a job interview today!!! I'm so excited (but trying not to be) - it's a Proper Researcher Job, 2 days a week (as much as any sane person should be expected to work, in my opinion!), and will let me both give up my current care work job, and allow me time to finish the phD :):):)

Just need to work out what 'synthesising texts' means now for the test at the interview. Hmm - that might relate to the one Supposedly Essential Requirement that I didn't have then... :)
  • Well done cheery!! Shudders at the thought of synethising texts as I'm not great at it.

    Poo and botherations today

Firstly - chap now isnt actually taking the room - he's found another place
Secondly - will it ever stop snowing
Thirdly - just discovered not made a payment on DS swiss trip since Nov - we've only paid £200 ish of a £600ish trip - botheration
Forthly - supposed to be viewing alleged evil carpets of landlords - and relook at the 'lovely' new carpets of current tentants later - but the snow might scupper that
    Fifthly - bah humbug

Doing all sorts of sums and looking at juggling with CC's etc to see if I can swing everything at the mo...........................if said carpets are worth it - I may ring the bank and see if I can have an OD extension for a few months to get them.......

OH came up with a good plan - if the floors are wooden in the house - why not stuff the carpets and just have a look at the floors - old farmhouse - might be wooden or actually its more normal here to have slate floors we've tonnes of cheery rugs etc - and stuff.
