    Brrrrrr!

    Hope you're all warm enough!

We just had a SLIGHT fiasco here... Meant to be driving up to Stripey Land :) next Friday, but van stuck in our road. Temporarily looked like snow was ok, bit warmer, main roads clear, so got van out onto main road.

Went to get some diesel, watched someone else slide through snow and hit petrol pump...

Got a bit overconfident and went to Tesco :) (but we had a £10 off when you spend £30 voucher - too hard to resist!)

THEN - blizzard hit in the half hour we were in Tesco, even the main roads were covered. We live on top of hill, Tesco at bottom. Cue about an hour of !!!!in stupid non-traction van sliding around everywhere, wheelspinning and generally causing chaos, me biting finger nails and TRYING to keep mouth shut, poor old Mr Daffs trying to drive safely and ignore me at the same time...

I got out in the end and walked home :)

Van abandoned on main road about 20 mins walk away, with most of food shopping in. Still snowing...

SO... young Fay, I need to have a chat to you about next week.... Seeing as we've proved our van can't even get to Tesco if there's the slightest bit of snow, our travel plans may be somewhat hampered... I do NOT want to be attempting a 500 mile drive through the whole of Scotland in it unless it's completely thawed...

However - been investigating cheery trains, and think we have a solution. I think the earliest it's possible is to come over on the Stromness ferry and get to Stromness at 10.15 on Monday 28th. Will you have left by then?? I just can't see any other way of doing it without brining van, and she just won't make it unless the roads are completely clear!

    Aarrrrgggghhhhh!

Is it best to email you or ring?? left completely garbled message on your answer phone earlier but since it was about carrying tins of beans to you, that might have become redundant if we're coming on the train! :)

    xx

    PM'd you

No message on my phone, so am suspecting someone else is a bit confused now!

Hugs as well, what a nightmare, if this keeps up we might not get south ourselves!!

  • Fay - glad you have some sort of solution re work, as long as it is something you feel you can work with that is good.

CD - hope you manage to retrieve van ok..... and the shopping.

Bikini and stripey hat and scarf..... :rotfl:sounds like some sort of dodgy calendar picture (you know the sort you see in garage workshops)

I have spent the weekend attacking the mess I like to call home. DD came home yesterday in the end, after poor bf's car got written off day b4.

and made pastry and some gf cakes, may do some more later or tomorrow evening.

my cunning christmas plan may becoming together, equally it may all fall apart round my ears.:rudolf:
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
