Ok you lot is this sentence actually grammatically correct?

'' I have also made a lot of editing changes but I can only go so far with the rewriting sentences into reasonable English before we need to have a chat. I cannot write your PhD.'''

You see I ask for feedback and then I get some :) - lovely isn't it :)

It would be better if he re-edited his sentence!

Does 'a lot of' mean substantial?

    But should be however.

Reasonable English, is not constructive, it is patronising:mad: he should have re phrased that.

Before we need to have a chat..pardon you for being a student, but that is his job in the first instance.

I cannot write your PHD..clearly that is true, patronising sh*t:mad: and he obviously has a problem mentoring you too.

I would write to someone else in the department, if he is incapable of supporting you.

Other than that, well done on scary/fluffy loan.:TComing down a treat that is.:D

 How's the freezer these days Fay. Any room in it
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Fay, you MUST complain to your head of department! Or someone who can do something about it. DO NOT give up your PhD because of this revolting little man. Supervisors are there to SUPPORT you, not to write your PhD, which he knows full well, and you did not ask him to.

I'm so so angry on your behalf! I have so much trouble with my own supervisor, and yours sounds much worse! Believe me, having a supportive supervisor will make all the difference. You need to DEMAND a new and supportive supervisor RIGHT NOW (well, Monday morning :) ) because otherwise your PhD, your sanity, and your health (and possibly your freedom - I hear they can imprison you for murder these days) is threatened.

Sorry to be dramatic :) It's just that I'm a long way in, and convinced that my unhelpful supervisor has undone a lot of my self esteem and confidence over the years, and it doesn't help!

    :)

I bought a mini pepper plant for 30p from the school fair today, does that count as cheery gardening speak?? :)

Don't get me started. That was a terrible piece of grammar. He writes in a patronising and deconstructive manner. It's awful.

Get him sorted. There's always room in the freezer!

And to think, I remember the days when it was simply 'frowned upon'...

Oh the email was just some of the feedback - you should see my 30 pages by the end of it the comments are very droll

    peppers yeah woo hoo

i tried to talk to my other head of dept supervisor and he just said well fay to be honest its all a bit disapointing.......I went on to asked for smaller sections to be looked at and was told it wasnt very helpful. (????to who?????)

Then he said - i would have thought you would have put this in, and this in.....blah blah - which is great i wrote those down - but he was all 'oh I dont feel happy sending this to paul (Aberdeen supervisor) in its current state'

I am having my grammar corrected and the formatting of my documents - which I dont want I want ffeed back on WHAT i am writing

    phew sorry chaps

I feel between a rock and a hard place - Orkney supervisors dont want aberdeen supervisor to see anything yet
aberdeen supervisor is scary but helpful and supportive but to speak to him I go behind the back of the three orkney supervisors

    ? any ideas?
