  • Ok - I know I think I get it - so if I plan teas - then eek the lunches out as well I can figure Aprils stuff - double planning - how sneaky!

    Piq _ I like it!!

I lunches planned for DD and DS from budget anyway

Sorry for the panic - I just don't want to slap it all on CC and go crazy when away - so logically if I can sort April grocery shop then its better in the long run

They are away until 15th - so its only half a month - that's not too hard is it. And we will have our store cupboard supplies.

DD, OH and I are about next week (and brother ?) so I can sort next week as normal

Make sure Brother has and KNOWS - what he can and can't touch in freezer when I am away (If he's still here - maybe I will portion up several one meal person things) and make sure the rest is allocated and not like yesterday when I found a whole packet of bacon - (well the remanents of it) cooked for my brothers lunch (bacon is NOT a lunch food - its a breakfast food at weekend if we are good or its a tea - its NOT a lunch).

He is definately harder to train than my kids - and I have as yet have no idea when he is staying until (he's not working - so no cash for me either) - but he's up working on a contract here which he will get paid for eventually.

Last time he came to visit he stayed for 9 months - this time I have told him a month max kinda.........

If he is anything like my brother he will head straight for Biscuits..so cunning plan could be to make loads of Twinks hobnobs as back up plan..and a large hint to shop for you, replacing food eaten.

Morning Piq - methinks BOB is off to interfere with other diaries in a cunning covetous blackadder fashion
:rotfl: Oh absolutely the more Cunning Plans the better..although not the Baldrick kind:D

Re groceries, you could make up a lot of tomato based sauces, which can be added to a lot of dishes. I like to see how far i can make 500g of lean mince last. Soups are good to make up and freeze as well, that would solve a lot of dinner problems.
Pasta, can be a meal on its own, toss in a bit of Olive oil, garlic, herbs and spices..add a homemade piece of garlic bread...mmmmm Cheap and nutritious:D
Cheese, very versatile, sack of spuds..and you can plan an anything you want so long as it contains spuds.
Cheesey potatoes, HM chips, boiled baked anything really. I like on a cold day to bake in oven, scoop out the middle mix with spring onions and chees mash and put back in with more grated cheese and bake until crisp...absolute gut buster.

Lots of other ideas on oldstyle too. Have you got the recipe index? I will post linky for you

    found it http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=750489

i have little green things in the greenhouse - only taken 2 weeks, and not a lot of them but it's a start.
sounds like you've been rejigging your budget merrily because of lodger change of plans, have to admit i got a bit confuddled but BOB has been good at giving your advice. (barring the suggestion of the evil mashed spud things - devils work)
  • Hey there sorry LT - wow to little seedlings, mine are some up some asleep - took a chum around last night to say - right please look after these when I am away - most of them aren't up yet though - doh

I am in a pickle today - prob cos DS is going and he's a bit nervous - but all will be fine

Yeah no lodger a blow thinking up ways for his evil demise - he's so blinking nonchalent as to the change (or lack of change) he's just probably though saved me from insanity if he DID move in.

Plan is to use April normal food budget for my going way and shop for 6 months (store cupboard stuff etc non perishables)

    YOu dont like mash potatoes?????

THUD - stripeysocks on the floor

  • I may post a photo of the contents of the freezer as it will be more fun than writing a list

I may need to tidy the freezer list up a bit though to make it more understandable - its only legible to me and spiders at the moment.

PS bob ta for the linky x
