Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:

  • I never thought of it like that....puts thinking cap on for my garden. I don't have enough space for the onions i use a lot too...........good thinking [strike]batman[/strike]Fay:D

I put them inbetween flowers and tuck them in all over the garden in little clumps of 5-8 together - then you don't really see them during the summer - I do the same with shallots - tuck them in all over the place they act like summer foliage bedding and dont mind the summer flowers scampering all over them.

My prob is I love flowers so much I find it hard to have a purely vegetable garden - I want it to be pretty and decorative. And I am also stingy as most of the nutrients in the garden won't be used by the flowers so if you can tuck in veggies you get a real sense of hoodwinking mother nature a wee bit.:D The veg get the benefit of the shelter of the flowers and the insect visitors and the flowers don't get all leafy and silly by having too much food.

I like to think of it as my 'shinky-shonky' way of gardening - the ethics of ying and yang and fengshui with a bit more muddy chaos:rotfl:

Fay, those pictures are wonderful! It is *so* gorgeous ....I've got some holiday coming up (no, its okay, I'm not going to descend on you) and I might try again to learn to post pix up onto the website.

Love your companion planting. And the idea of keeping the hens in the fruitcage. And the trees. Everything, really.

  • HI- well I don't want to be Felicity Kendall, and find the thought of living more than a few miles from a decent shop scary- but do love your writings you are so funny- why don't you write a book?

It would go down well I am sure- and help with the old debty things!!

I used to go out with a vet btw- their people skills are dreadful, most of them are totally weird- so your revenge is topped by the fact he will now be living with an emotionally !!!!!! animal helper hahaha (oh I have a dog btw, totally love animals myself but manage people as well).

    look forward to reading more...........
now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings

    Morning Cheesedofwithdebt.

Ah what the cunning photo doesn't tell you that we now live slap bang in the middle of the main town - out the back blissful goodlife - a five minute walk away shops, takeaways, cinemas and anything you would need to quench that comfort zone.

Ta for saying that you like my disasterous but challenging way of life - it suits us down to a tea:D I'd love to write a book, half gardening/half cooking/half parenting/half live the chaotic life you want

However I don't suppose anyone would read it!!!!! Unless its a 'How not to......parent, cook, garden, be a financial goddess and hang on to a husband!!'

Then again there maybe is a secret disaster in all of us - mine is just very clearly on the oustide for all to see...............

Theres the title 'How to be a domestic disaster in the home, kitchen and garden'

Waving to you the sun is shining today - lodger chap left us today - will I miss getting up at 6.30 to do breakfast - um NO

But he did give us a lovely box of choccies, bless him:D

    (Didn't tell him I dont like choccies)xx
