Yes the stores tell you what is involved. What they don't tell you however is that the network provider is completely rubbish!!

I signed up to Orange a few months ago only to find that there is about a 3 hour time delay on receiving some text messages. I contacted Orange to be told thats the way they operate!! If I would have known this sooner then I certainly wouldn't have signed upto an 18 month contract!!

Well if you keep getting rubbish deals all the time, I can't think of anyone who would not want to commit. I think the Sim Only Option for £20 a month, 600 minutes and unlimited texts is the best so far. Unfortunatley I'm stuck in a £30 a month, 400 minutes and 500 texts for the next 10 months. Crikey
Why did you sign up to a contract if you weren't happy with the deal you were getting?

By the sounds of it you're on a 24 month tariff (possibly a bonus tariff?) and you want out of the contract because you feel you're getting a bad deal. Phone up O2 customer services, be polite and ask to change to the Q1 2011 600 24m tariff, for £31 a month you'll get 600 minutes and unlimited texts, but if you want data it's most likely going to cost you at least an extra £3 (so £34). You're not stuck on that tariff, you can change it if you want, but obviously because you got a handset out of your contract you wont be able to change to a SIM only option until you're up for renewal.

Edit: I just noticed the age of the original post... Don't bump ancient threads please, it's annoying!

I don't suffer from this problem. And what do they say is the criteria for "some messages" taking 3 hours? Sent from a 2nd class phone?

I have used O2, Voda, T-Mobile and Orange. I also set up a company O2 contract. The one thing I know is that some areas have black spots and those who have poor reception in these black spots hate the network they are on. And that network can be any of them.

Get back on to a technical person. If they claim the same thing, ask for it is writing with an explanation whay they have problems with "some messages" and not others.

Then ask for a release based upon the information you receive if it is unique to Orange.

All the networks still quote a max of 24 hours for SMS's, so there's no way out there I'm afraid.

Delivery time is based on which network the message is coming from and the load on the servers, if it's taking longer to get to you from one number I'd get that person to check with their network that there's no a problem on their side handing off the message to Orange..
