Help, I have been robbed

Hi all

Noticed this morning that i had email from paypal saying that i had paid over 600 quid to two sellers.

Immediately started shaking as i had done nothing of the sort. Then phoned bank and paypal and police.

Then I received an email from a girl and ended up speaking to her. A chap had gone round last night and collected the item from her (high value)

so he has her laptop, paypal has stopped the payment so she has no money for it.

I haven't heard back from the other seller yet.

How on earth did he manage to hack into my account?

Phising perhaps. Have you checked your computer for keyloggers, malware etc

I would do a full scan with your anti virus making sure its updated and aslo to use malware bytes program its free just in case

Oh and change your password for Paypal and ebay. I use a password generator on important accounts and save it. I recommend a program called roboform

I only work either on my laptop or work computer so i don't think it iwill be a keylogger. I have also got full virus protection with work so I don't know how this could have happened, I am absolutely terrified.

yes but I travel with my job and use hotel wifi. Is it possible that somebody has hacked in through that?

I have a Vodafone USB dongle thing now for when I travel - overall it is much cheaper than hotel wifi, and more secure than hotspots.

I have just got one of those. Thinking about it though, i haven't been onto my paypal account in a hotel ever. I do all that sort of stuff at work. The systems here are really tight.
