Then it doesnt need to be thrashed out on here then does it.foreign_correspondent wrote: »we cant, of course, hence the advice to ask the vet for their opinion.0 -
Thanks Sou - I suppose I am a bit confused really - as I said we often talk about all sorts here, some of which is not moneysaving, but very interesting, and I thought this pup thread was one of the most relevant (to moneysaving) that I have seen on here in a while - as consumer rights and the law around the sales of gods act, as it applies to pets is rarely considered.
I was surprised when it was closed, and wondered why, really?0 -

Some sites are closing down because not enough people visit them.
i regularly contribute to catchat and purrsinourhearts (I also shop at Purrs, which raises money for cats in need).
maybe some sites need to make themselves more visible so that people know they are there, then they won't close down - especially if the content and user interface is good.
which sites are closing down and i will see if they appeal to me?0 -
LT, if you don't want to talk about or read about it on here you don't have to, but many of us do. I agree totally about it being MS, we don't know it got sick because of being a Pup farm Dog but it's highly likely to have been why & the OP's friend could have gone further with Trading Standards etc & found out more0

That little dog may have picked up Parvo when the lady took it for a walk. Noone on here knows of the breeder other than what the OP said so noone on here can really comment on their conditions.
How does anyone know.....on here......where the pup got sick?
Well considering the breeder had lied about the age of the pup by about 5weeks, we can assume that she isn't exactly bothered about anything except getting the dog sold.
The pup was NOT taken for walks, it was carried outside to wee and poo in their garden, which no other animal has been in.
It apparently had been given it's 1st set of injections, so surely if the dog HAD contracted a disease that it was supposed to be immunised against, then the breeder is liable?
I doubt they will chase the breeder down to claim back the money, because they are more concerned there little dog has died, but I for one will be reporting the breeder, because that little dog suffered.0 -
How old was the pup then?
Such a sad story, I can undrstand why the family cant face chasing the money at the moent, but it is a shame. I guess a lot o people would feel the same way, which works to the advantage of the unscrupulous breeder/seller.0 -

Understand what you say. I wasnt in any way saying that what you say isnt correct.....only that we, on here, only have your side of things and dont know what the breeder has to say.
Vaccinations dont mean the dogs wont get viruses.....just that if they do, they wont be so bad as to really harm them. With a very small pup who is vaccinated, if they catch a virus too soon they can have problems.
And Parvo virus can be carried on the bottom of your shoes into the house and garden. It is a risk for every puppy. Parvo virus can also live for about 2 years too.0 -

everone knows what a friendly and helpful board this is, and of course people will want to chat more as they get to know each other

but the main purpose of MSE is to help people SAVE money. The health board has recently had similar discussions and the Forum Manager posted HERE
this particular thread was started by the friend of a person who bought a dog from what may be a puppy farm, no one knows for sure what happened to the poor dog, but MSE is not the place to discuss and lay blame without full facts
a general discussion on puppy farms is fine, in the correct place, as is a thread on how to claim money back from breeders, I hope you can see the difference
