What units did you go for

    My local supplier has

    beko
    Panasonic
    Samsung
    haier

Why are the ones you have not reliable

Here in France, they're called Airton. Made in France, from imported components with a Toshiba compressor. But I would think all sub £800 systems are pretty similar.

Forums are full of unhappy customers who have had break downs or can't get through to the helpline.

1 of my 3 is behaving slightly strangely, but they all work great. For now. I'm not expecting a massive life from them, but everything beyond 2 years is a bonus.

The basic guarantee is 2 years, the compressor 5, but they have so many get out clauses I wouldn't hold out much hope of ever being reiumbursed.
  • We live in a 3 bedroom semi (small) house in the highlands it has a nibe f2015-8k fitted, it runs 7 radiators with a powerflow 200 tank that has 165lts hw 120 heating and 20 for a solar panel.
Our total daily electricity works out at £3.80, is that good?

That's very similar to me for the month of December with a mix of snow, hard frosts and semi-mild. Easily half that in the milder months.

However we have 13 fan convector rads plus one towel rail rad in the bathroom which also has wet ufh. We also run a wee 200 watt heater in the porch about 16 hours a day to take the chill off. Tis a large[ish] house.

DHW 2-3 times a day in a 200 odd lt tank, can't remember size now with heating to 20/21c 18 hours a day and not allowed to drop below 17c.

    Hope this helps.

I think this coming week will be the litmus test for many posters with new ASHPs. Temps may go down to around -7C and barely rise above 3C during the day. There's a chance that this cold spell might spill over into the following week too and possibly get even colder. It will be interesting to hear how everyone gets on and any reports of icing up and frequent defrost cycles. Some may be in for a bit of a surprise.

A 200 watt heater? Where did you get that then?
Does it actually do anything at all?

Just in case there are new readers, it is worth pointing out that you have air to air ASHPs and the flat has central heating(gas?). So your setup is atypical.

This is true but have no control over central heating and it is off when I am off during the week apart from evenings so my main heat source during the day. It heats the place better than the rads.

During weekend central heating on all day from 10am to 10pm my lounge is only upto 19c now whereas with the heat pump can get it to 23c if I wish.

  • Hello All

Forgive me if this the wrong forum for this question, but i could really do with some direction!

I have recently moved into a new Millgate Homes house that came complete with a Nibe F2015 ASHP for all heating requirements (ex Hot Water for taps). The house also included an Energy Monitor and as you can possibly guess we seemed to be using a lot of electricity and accumulating a hefty power bill.. on the last check it was £490 for a seven week period, or £10 a day average. (Large 4 bedroom house)

We had no warning of the high costs associated to the ASHP and when escalated to the MD of Millgate Homes he accepted that they are not the best option for an area with Gas Supply due to the high running costs. In fact, he stated that they have installed 20 over the past 3 years to meet the local councils directives around renewables and in that period 18 have been decommissioned, I guess leaving only me and another soon to be shocked Millgate customer with them running..

When asked why i was not informed of the highcosts, he replied, 'your a business man' what would you have done... got to admire his transparency.

Anyhow, enough moaning. Millgate have offered to cover the cost of removing the ASHP, but on the agreement that they keep all the associated kit - F2015 + Buffer Tank + SMO 05 etc... In my mind not a good deal given the RRP of this kit and the fact its only 5-6 months old. Alternatively, they suggest that I pay for the system to be removed and then sell second hand to cover costs..

My plumber seems to think I will be able to sell second hand, but i have not seen and second hand/refurbished systems on ebay etc, so is anyone likely to buy??

Can anyone provide any guidance on reselling such a system? I have spoken to a number of Nibe premier fitters listed on nibe.com and whilst they have been really useful in terms of how best to run the system, none have been interested in buying.

Hopefully you can offer guidance and i have not offended anyone with a sales question!

    Many Thanks

    Dave
