i too didnt want the rose, but now have a rather pathetic pink flower with a bit of green, sitting in a milk bottle, as i dont own any vases small enough for a single flower

I'm coeliac and there were some gluten free starters left in mine today. They had smoked salmon or a scallop thing that was gf, I also think the salmon and cheese in a glass dish thingy were gf but I didn't check as I don't like cream cheese. My M and S will never substitute anything gf though when they run out.

Incidentally, while I was in there today I bought GF salmon fishcakes from their gastropub range on a buy one get one half price offer, they are delicious!

I popped into M&S this morning and asked the SA where the mint chocs that were a sub for the rose were. She said that there weren't any mint chocs in the offer - so I looked confused and said that I gone to buy the meal yesterday, and been given a choice of a rose or the choccies. She disappeared off and came back with mint chocs and said that they weren't advertising the chocs, they were meant for when they run out of roses, but that as I knew about it, it wasn't a problem.

So a big thanks to who-ever posted about the chocs.

and not just any roses. this was a marks and spencer rose, deep red slightly wilted rose, wrapped in a pure luxiourous sheet of the finest plastic,placed together with a 2 week old piece of greenery,then placed with love into a bag they charge you 9p for!
oh well its valentines day, the meal looks good!

I got the salmon starter, rack of lamb, green veg with butter and valentines chocolate cups also got the mints instead of the rose, but had to ask and the SA went off and got me the mints!
It was very busy and there was quite an air of excitement as everyone was choosing their meals, they all looked lovely!

Husband and I just choose our meal in Armagh branch, N.I. lOOKS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.
Scallops
Steak
Selection of vegetables-we are going to do our own chips!
Chocolate mousse puddings in 2 cute little ceramic bowls and bootle of bubbly.
I was happy enough with rose!
We are going to have our meal tonight as we dont really believe in the commercialization of this day.
Very impressed with what looks like an amazing meal for a great price-well done M& S!

Thanks for the tip about the mint chocs, my dd loves these. I'd rather have this, than a flower I'm going to kill. (I've already done in a bouquet and a plant this week)

we got coquilles, steak, chips, souffle, cava and mint chocs.

Thanks for that but i can't eat fish i come out in a hives so that's where we came unstuck as all gf food was fish or seafood. we wanted the Gastropub Camembert with Chutney but they didn't stock it. Im wishing we hadn't bothered now as i don't think it is as good value for us as the £10 offer.

Dh wanted the steak and chips but the chips weren't gf so we got the lamb and veg

Thanks for the info on the fishcakes i will have a look for them as dh loves fish and i don't really cook it for him much as i can't have it.

well im gutted went into my m&s today to get scallops n steak and they had all gone!!! arrgghh

they hardly had anything left apart from afew half dead roses and some starteers aswell as lots of fish

just had the rack of lamb and it was beautiful but a bit dissapointed with the petit chablis, didn't really taste like an expensive wine.
