Hi and happy 2011, can someone in the know please recommend a 32 or 37 inch hd tv please. Perhaps freeview or freesat. What's the difference? Is a budget of not more than 350 good enough. I'll use it for tv, pictures etc but I dont play computer games.
Thanks.0 -
Hi.
That budget is plenty good enough. People will offer you plenty of options- but here's a few to get you started
37" Sony - £349.95 http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/sony/kdl37ex401/sony-kdl37ex401
32" Samsung - £269.95 http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/samsung/le32c450/sams-le32c4500 -
Hi Strawberries,
Take a look at http://www.comet.co.uk/p/LCD-TVs/buy-SONY-KDL32EX403U-LCD-TV/621811, I know someone who has just bought this TV, very good quality, great features, you can connect it to the internet by ethernet or you can buy a separate dongle for BBC Iplayer and internet apps. Even if you wont use the internet aspect its Full HD and will pick up Freeview HD. £299! - Plus 3% cashback if you buy online through Quidco.0 -
I'm thinking of waiting for a new TV until the BBC brings out the YouView box in summer, to make sure it's compatible. I want to be able to see the BBC archive material.

ANDREW MARR:
Let me ask you about this new product that the BBC and lots of other broadcasters are going to be producing called YouView. It used to be called Canvas, I think, and it's a sort of box of some kind. It's coming out next year and will allow us to do what exactly?
MARK THOMPSON:
So you have to imagine that you can turn on your television and in addition to BBC1 and ITV and Channel Four and lots of other channels that also you can get services like iPlayer, 4oD, ITV.com and many other services which use the internet to bring you archive, to bring you catch-up services, and to bring you frankly lots of applications and forms of content that we need to dream up.
ANDREW MARR:
So if you miss something, you'll be able to catch up?
MARK THOMPSON:
So it's bringing the internet to your television, but in a way you can use with your television handset, massively increasing choice. If you think of the Olympic Games, for example, somebody with a YouView box - let's imagine it's a Freeview box, a digital terrestrial television box which has also got YouView, you'll be able to watch the Olympics on the BBC in real time on all of our channels, but also you'll be able to see much of our archive. You'll be able to get data and facts, all of which will be available on your television screen. So I mean I believe this is a big revolution in broadcasting.0 -
Been trawling around for a 60" Plasma Full HD (1080p) /w Freeview HD for my new home but not many decent deals about for 60" plasmas.
Anyone chanced upon any 60" full hd & Freeview HD bargains lately ?0 -
I am really indecisive and am wanting a new tv 32" or 37" LCD perhaps (or maybe LED) I am probably not going to meet the VAT deadline of this Monday lol. I was looking at the Sony Bravia tv, what do others think of this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5296352/Trail/searchtext%3ETV.htm I liked that it had lots of HDMI and scart points, but not sure how the other features work. Mu mum has a Sony Bravia and I noticed the on/off switch at the top, no good to me as I am in a wheelchair and too short to see the top of the tv lol...do all LCD tv's have the switch on the top of the tv? I do have a remote to cut the power to the tv, otherwise it would be on standby if I didn't want to knock the power off everything else connected to the tv (e.g Sky box) I am also thinking of upgrading to sky HD box and buying a blu-ray player, so advice on that too will be appreciated. Thanks.0
