Surely if you were really fanatical about getting a clean power source you would be much better off running your kit from a battery and feeding DC straight into the equipment at its native voltage. It would probably be cheaper too!0

Sort of agreed. But very power hungry units like multichannel poweramps etc Id much rather run off mains (And even battery powered devices are susceptible to EMI)
But thats beyond the point im making which is a simple ~ barided mains cables DO make a difference (Assuming the mains ISNT completely clean and/or theirs EMI present):idea:0 -
I wasn't talking a couple of AA batteries here - you could hook up a few leisure batteries (the large lead-acid type) - they would be able to supply more than enough power for any home entertainment system. It would be clean and would probably be the best you could do. All you'd need is a battery conditioning unit to keep them topped up.
As for other EMI, that biggest source in the room is probably inside the equipment itself.0 -

Im aware of what you ment. And it does make sense to. But I use a SIGMAS conditioner (Which will drive pretty much any hifi amp in the world) and have already supplied myself with all the leads I want and am quite happy with the setup as it is (Bar a few interconnects and another set of speaker cables)
Cheers all the same scouse
