My Broadband speed

Hi

I have just done a broadband speed test on the ADSLGuide webpage. It's showing my download speed as:

Downstream1873 Kbps (234.1 KB/sec)2022 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Now on their comparison chart this shows as (fairly) comparable to 2 meg, however my connection is only supposed to be 1meg

Have AOL upgraded me without telling me? I don't want to contact them in case it's a mistake and they downgrade me again! :p

Any ideas?

I'm on 2 Meg Broadband with AOL and those are the speeds I get when doing a speed test.

Well I'm even more confused than ever tbh. Everytime I log onto my primary screen-name I get a pop-up from AOL asking me if I want to upgrade to 2 meg!?!

EDIT - scrap my question. I have just found the AOL keyword Speed Upgrade that tells me I have been upgraded for free :):) Nice to get a freebie for a change!

  • Mr Skint ... thanks

I just tried it and got the following results.
I am AOL Platinum (the top band) .... so is this a fair reflection of what I am getting for what I pay?

    Downstream 1403 Kbps (175.4 KB/sec) 1515 Kbps (inc. overheads)
    Upstream 237 Kbps (29.6 KB/sec) 255 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Thats a bit of a poopy speed if its meant to be the 2meg connection..

Mind you it does say on AOLs site upto 2meg so it may
fall with in thier acceptable speeds.

  • I am currently on NTL and I was originally on 512k broadband but i then upgraded it to 1Meg. I have done the speed test and it appears that they have not upgraded me. What do you think?

    Downstream 537 Kbps (67.1 KB/sec) 579 Kbps (inc. overheads)
