  • Should someone contact C4 and ask them why we have a 'failed in their field advisor' adviseing people?

You can try but they kept Gillian McKeith in employment for long enough and we all know how valid that "doctorate" she had was for discussing nutrition

Great news. The more unemployed property pimps there are the better.

I have never used Phil's property services but I quite liked the idea of employing someone to find you a property. No one has to use him or services like this but I do think they have a place in the market.

For instance, a high percentage of people only move a few miles from where they are curently living which makes it very easy to check out an area, however when we retire we certainly arent planning to stay in the South East. I think the area around Leeds looks nice, lots of beautiful scenery but near enough to a big city but we really dont know. Where do we start looking if you dont live near these places. I would hate to move and then find I have to move again once I know the area.

I was moved once by a relocation company who gave me detailed info on the areas I was planning to move to and they were spot on. It helped to have all the initial ground work done.

The only surprise here is that this kind of business model ever got off the ground in the first place. I can't believe that you could charge someone 5k for looking on Rightmove for them:D. Truely amazing what people will pay for.

I don't mind Beeney, she's a lot more sensible and not half as irritating.

I agree, word is Phil has been paying the wage bill out of his own ill gotten gains.

Phil Spencer told yesterday of his desperate fight to keep his home finding company going.
The TV property expert said he had been paying staff wages out of his own pocket for six months in the hope business would improve at Garrington Home Finders.
Phil, who presents C4 property search show Location, Location, Location with Kirsty Allsop, said: “I have bank-rolled it during this tricky time and the tricky time has gone on longer than anyone imagined and it’s been far more painful because of the lack of deals. I have, together with others, fought tooth and nail to keep the company alive and keep everyone in jobs.”
Yesterday the Mirror revealed how Garrington, based in Chelsea, West London, was facing problems after one worker said he was laid off and told to claim state redundancy.
Phil, 39, said: “I absolutely accept that people will be upset if they don’t get paid for the last couple of weeks and that is deeply regrettable but I personally have been funding their salaries for six months.”

He co-founded the firm with his Australian wife Fiona, 40, in 1996 to help rich buyers find homes. Clients have included Keira Knightley, Kylie Minogue and Tottenham footballer Jonathan Woodgate.
Speaking from Melbourne where is filming a new series, Phil admitted that the collapse of the property market had hit hard and neither he nor his wife had drawn a salary for a year.
He said: “You can’t have a business or industry where the volume of business falls by over 50 per cent in the fairly short time and not be affected.
“If I had a regret it would be that I didn’t wind down quickly enough.”
Two investors had pulled out late in talks but Phil said Garrington was not in administration.
The company was close to arranging a management buyout involving restructuring to keep the firm going, with Phil kept on as a consultant.

I wonder if this will end up as a Tom Aiken type deal, where the company goes into admin and he buys it back cheaply.
