PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

    I can't wait until we can reclaim car insurance premiums...lets face it - if it hasn't been used, why don't you at least get a rebate on some of what you have paid???

    been lurking on this fantastic site for a while now. Have just started trying to reclaim PPI on my finaces insurnance and I was looking for a quick bit of advice. The policy we are pursuing was misold by a company called Homebank (an intermediary involved in "independant" advice on remortgaging). She was conned into paying for PPI as part of her new mortgage deal and she paid for it as a lump sum on top of her rearranged mortgage. The PPI is from a company called Assurant Solutions (linked to eithe lloyds tsb or abbey i think). We wrote to them using the first tmeplate letter and were told we could not claim. Undeterred, I sent the second template letter from the website. We had a reply today telling us that as we were claiming about mis selling, we had to take the case up with homebank who sold us the policy.
    Sorry, long winded but basically I just wanted to know who i should be going after, Homebank or Assurant?
    Am fuming that she was basically taken advantage of in being sold this policy without really understanding what she was being sold.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Plenty of complaints about car insurance at the FOS but not about misselling or rebates:eek: (not as i know!!). And to answer the unused bit, you get a no claims bonus at least:D....

    for mis selling you always go to the seller not the loan provider

    Good to see you back again.;)

    I posted up some info the other day in regards of a documental policy, of how to complain on insurance issues, as you are aware the loan was originally sold by Click Finance who dissolved in 2006, and the lender is Endeavour, the policy documents confirms to complain to Hamilton Insurers in any issues in regards of the insurance.

    But again, I know what your saying though, as this was not sold by the insurers, they cannot be responsible for selling the ppi, but maybe its back to the rebate issue for me again then?

    the seller for mis selling - the policy underwriter for unfair contract terms -as the terms which allow low rebates are written into the policy
