I am in process of claiming PPi for my mum. She has had 2 loans from clydesdale bank in last 6 years. Total PPi is about £8K including interest.

By the sounds of it she has definately been mis sold. When she arrived at bank to sign paperwork it was all prepared for her and she was just told the loan included ppi. She wasnt advised about it being optional and was just told it wasa good policy and she will never know what is round the corner.

She wasnt advised about the cost or the monthly payment for it. When she questioned the advisor and said she was in secure job she just said she might need to use it and that she would be better with it.
She has now realised she doesnt need it and she was lead to believe it was all part of the loan.
When she called CB they told her they would send her out a form to complete and to send back. Looking at previous Cb cases they don't look like they payout at all as the customer has signed the forms.

Any one had any luck or got any advice on this please?

    Thanks

    Many thanks for that.

I agee with you, that it appears to be a nasty set up. Deliberate trap.
They forced me to buy the PPI in spite of my protests. Unfortunately, at the time I was not only working full time in a very demanding job, but I was also caring for my disabled mother, practically on my own, so I had no time to shop around for better deals. Besides, it all looked a lot better until the time came to sign on the dotted line.
Yes, I know the name of the person and I have all the correspondence to prove, that she worked for Wilmslow at the time. It was all shown in the name of Wilmslow. There is absolutely no mention of Bespoke anywhere.
I already mentioned her name in my correspondence to them and I will write again, this time formely holding her responsible for mis-selling me the PPI.

Once again, thank you very much
What I suggest you might like to say in your letter is that if they continue to claim Bespoke were responsible you'll start proceedings in the County Court and under Civil Procedure Rule 18 (CPR18 Request for Further Information ) formally request a copy of their payroll records of the individual mentioned and that you'll apply to the Inland Revenue for a copy of her tax record to establish who she actually worked for in support of your claim !!!

It really doesn't matter whether she signed the forms or not it's whether the person 'selling' the policy led her to believe it was compulsory - as the Clydesdale is a bank they have always been covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service so if they refuse to pay up (as is there normal practice) take her complaint to the FOS

Please can anyone tell me how long do I have to wait for pay outs.

I have accepted the settlement payment from Barclaycard, they said they would pay direct to my current account, how long will I have to wait for this.
Also what about Bank of Scotland. They wrote to me saying they would contact me "shortly" to confirm exact details of the amount they will pay me. That was 2 weeks ago. I wrote to them today and asked that they give the matter their urgent attention as I think 2 weeks is more than enough time. Anyone got any idea how long between conformation and pay out?

    Hi there.

I would give them approx 28 days (month then) and if you have not received anything by then, chase them up, good luck and hope you receive your money soon.;)

    And well done.

    Hi

I am currently in the process of reclaiming mis-sold PPI from A&L, however I am now concerned my previous providers Egg and HSBC may have added PPI to my credit card and loan respectively. By the way these are now both settled accounts from around 2 years ago.

Given the historic nature of these accounts I now have no details on these accounts, therefore can I still claim if I contact each of them for details?

    Thanks

    Hi Hawk007

Yes you can still try to reclaim on these, easier again if within the last 6 years.
If you've no paperwork for these, write to them and enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment to request for your copy of the agreement, they should supply by 12 days.

    Post by recorded delivery.;)

Another way is to send them a SAR (Subject access request), where they must send you all the information going back as far as 6 years in England and Wales, Scotland is 5 years, not sure about elsewhere, but there is charge of £10 for this info, and they have 40 days to comply.

    SAR template here with details:

In regards of my above post, you can do that, but if your sure PPI was sold and you have no agreement numbers, if you been with the same bank for a few years and paid the finance off by DD, you should be able to check the account numbers for the finance on your statements.

This way you can still try to reclaim with your reasons and they may even supply you with the agreement then where no there is no charge this way.;)

Thank you very much indeed. I have nothing to lose, so I will quote them the Rule 18 in my letter and I will take into account all of your's, Marshallka's and Di3004 suggestions.

    Many thanks again

    Hi,

I received a letter from Bank of Scotland on 7th March telling me they would contact me shortly. I received my next letter from them on 17th April confirming the details.

    Hope that helps!

Oh, and I received the money (pay out) into my bank account on 5th May.
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
