Hi all,
I'm helping my Dad claim back mis-sold PPI but i've got to one thats a bit tricky, so I hope someone can help
My Dad took out 2 mortgage loans with iGroup (i've now discovered they are GE Money). So sent 2 complaint forms to GE Money. Received letters today saying "I note that whilst GE Money provided the finance to you for your PPI, GE Money did not sell it to you". So they have forwarded one onto Capital One Home Owner Loans Ltd because they sold the PPI to him. The other one was sold by Standard Allied Mortgage Company Ltd, but they were unable to forward it on because they do not hold an accurate forwarding address for them.
I've searched the net and found an address but I don't know if it is still active. I also found an email address which is no longer active. I've checked the FSA register and it says "No longer authorised".
Has anyone else had any dealings with them? Or know if Standard Alliance Mortgage Company are still around?
Any help and advice would be great. Thanks in advance
Me again, i'm after more advice about this!
I rang the FOS yesterday and they can't find no forwarding address for Standard Allied Mortgage Company so they said to call the FSA. I haven't yet but been searching the net for hours and finally found out that this company went into liquidation in May 2005. So where do I go from here? Do I go back to GE Money or do I give up? Don't like to give up because this was quite a lot of money my Dad paid for PPI that was worthless to him!
Anyone else had this problem?0 -

If I am understanding this refund lark properly (probably not lol), they are refunding PPI premiums, plus the prevailing interest rate that has accrued on that balance on either the loan or CC and then adding 8% interest.
Couple of questions.
1. Is the 8% flat on the final figure, or compounded from the start of the PPI premium.
2. Is this example therefore correct.
PPI Premiums in year 1 (13 years ago) £90 (£7.50 per month) which is a ficticious figure.
Interest rate of Credit card is a whopping 29.4% Per Annum.
So, £90 compounded at 29.4% for 13 years = £2,566.77.
Then the 8% is added on top = £2,772.11 (or should the 8% be compounded as well?)
If any of the above is correct then my HBOS CC refund could be mahhooooossssive, as I am paying £7.50 per month now based on a £900 balance and for the majority of the time I have owned the card, the balance has been around £3000 and the PPI premium was more like £25.
As you can probably tell, I am quite bored lol.
Or do they just work out the annual premium and add the interest rate of 29.4% to that?
Ie. Year 1 premiums totalled £90. Plus 29.4% = £116.46 then plus 8% = £125.77.
If this is the case I shall cancel my round the World cruise lmao.I'm a secret crime fighter0 -
Just rung the Halifax and they have requested the details of all of my policies, but it is still early days and there is a lot of info outstanding.
Looks like mine may take the entire 16 weeks, so 31st August.
Grrrrr :mad::rotfl:I'm a secret crime fighter0 -
Well I sent an email to First Plus on the 11th July asking for an update on my case.
Today I've received a letter dated 12th July saying they promised to keep me updated and will contact me again by 12th August.
It seems my persuasive email has managed to add 4 more days to the next response time!!! Never mind! At least I wasn't ignored.0 -
Hi, just wondered if anyone has any idea what the deadline is for dealing with PPI complaints that were put on hold. I know Barclays, Lloyds and RBS were given an extended date to 31 August, but what about the other companies?
My complaint to MBNA was originally 20 January. Apart from an acknowledgement in February I haven't received anything. I have called them and I am just told they are working on the claims and it may take a while...how long is a while???0 -
