  • Hello

I am new to this site and i was wondering if any thought i had a case.

I started a pitman training course a few years ago but could not afford the £2000 course fee, pitman said that i could get a load through Barclays via their scheme. I agreed and i never spoke to anyone from Barclays at all and only have 1 piece of paper from them confirming the loan and the monthly repayments.

On the letter i have from them it states

'' 1. pay the full value of the balanced financed £2,245.50 on or before 27/05/09 and you will not be charged any interest or payment protection insurance.

    or

    2. make the first payment of £115.46 on or before the 27/05/09 and on the same date each month until the full balance of £4156.56 is repaid.'

I have never been told how much the ppi is or if it is included. I have contacted Barclays and asked to see the loan terms and conditions.

I know everyine should check what they are signing but i really wanted to do this course and at the time this was the only way i could do it, i dont think i ever even saw what the apr was!
    Any advise would be fantastic.

    Thanks

Due to all the help posted on this forum, I am working my way through piles of old paperwork relating to credit card and loans - I have come across an old account I had with Grattan which I had for many years and closed in 2002. I was a housewife at the time with young children, and have noticed that they deducted payment protection insurance every month. Has anyone had any success with claiming this PPI back?

    Hi there

Hopefully someone who have dealt with them will post up of their own experience.
You can still give it a go on the reclaiming, but they may come back and say they were not then regulated by the FSA and may try fobbing off, but if this happens, call the financial ombudsman service (FOS) anyway and they are more than likely to suggest the insurer of the policy, then the FOS can then take this matter on as these would have been regulated.

Good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.

    Hi there

I would expand on this matter on a new thread below "its still within the ppi reclaiming threads" but hopefully you will receive the correct answers there.
If mis sold the product in my opinion you have the right to make a complaint and reclaim what you have paid into the account of the product.

    Good luck on this.:)

I am getting so tired of chasing my PPI claims. One particular insurance company has been fobbing me off since November. I deal with one person there and keep being told upper management are reviewing these claims(been reviewing them for 5 months) I thought I might hear something after the BBA turnabout yet nothing, still being told last week that upper management are still reviewing things. I tried to speak to FOS for advice however huge delay on the phones, any advice?
One other claim has gone to FSA who keep screwing it up. I'm not opptimistic they will ever get things straight!!

  • Hi to everyone on the forum.

As a newbie I'm probably going to ask a question that has been asked before. In 2008 we took out a loan with Lloyds for £20,000 with PPI on top it came to somewhere in the region of £28,000 myself and my wife were both signatories on the loan and PPI as it was a joint account, I have claimed on the PPI as I was made redundant but am now back working.

(Q1) Both the loan and the PPI are taken out on the same d/d and not separately I have been told that this is wrong and they should come out separately and that this is grounds for claiming back?

(Q2) As I have said both my wife and I signed the loan paperwork but I am the only one covered is this grounds for claiming back?

I hope that the vast knowledge and experience of the people on the forum can help.

    Thanks John

    Hi Di
The company is AXA. I keep being told 20 days or a couple of weeks for a decision yet those weeks and days keep coming and going, yet still no news.

    Cheers Dee

    Hi John and welcome

Lloyds add the ppi in with the loan premium as then a single monthly all in one repayment.

Even if a claim have been made, you can still make a complaint if you still have reason for being mis sold, please be aware though the amount will be reduced if successful due to using some of the claim when you were unemployed.

So whatever reasons you have, there is no harm in still giving it a go.

There is also a comment made by Martin himself on his guidelines of reclaiming page.

Have you already claimed on the insurance?
Until January 2010 it had been generally assumed you couldn't make a mis-selling complaint if you'd already made a successful insurance claim. Yet proposals from the regulator now mean more people could be entitled to compensation.

Anyone who has claimed on a PPI policy can still submit a mis-selling complaint, using the timeframes above, though the chances of success are unclear. However, even if you're not successful, you may be able to cancel your insurance

If you check lloyds website, the procedures on how to reclaim are directly on the website, its the same reclaim questionnaire as this site.

    Good luck.
